I've never been on BC before but am currently on this specifically to lessen my periods. We suspect I have endo but my doc does not want to do a lap and potentially create scar tissue.

My periods were miserable and I never knew just how bad. Like shaking on the ground drooling pain where sitting on the toilet for hours was the only thing that helped. Then I gave birth and after birth they were wonderful! Not hormonal, no bloating or cramps I was like wow this is great. Now a few years out every period is getting worse and worse. I imagine I can feel scar tissue growing and wrecking my life.

So I had the genius idea to not have periods and go on bc with seasonal. But doc rx Lo loestrin fe instead.

I have never been so bloated and my breasts are HUGE! They're sore and painful and taking off my bra is horrible. Only my pregnancy bra fits. Pants are tight and I am craving bad for me foods, no interest in anything healthy which is normally how I eat. Like I am eating my daughter gummy vitamins and debating how many I can eat w out poisoning myself.

Has anyone else had this experience or can the suggest a different pill? It's like either way I am so miserable. The best I felt was when I was pregnant or the year and a half after birth as those periods were great.

Thanks anything is appreciated.

Re: Lo loestrin fe

Im on not on that BC so no exp but what I do know is that it takes 3 months for a bc to adjust in your body.

Give it the 4 months that's needed. if from there, its not a good fit, def speak to doc.

ETA: it def took that for me to see how it would work with me, and I also found out that after a yr or so on that BC, I had to switch because my body and hormones changed and it was affecting me differently.

Lo loestrin fe

It took me 11 years to finally get an endo diagnosis. In that time it grew into my bladder, bowel, appendix, and diaphragm. Birth control does NOT make it go away or make it stop, it just slows it down slightly. I finally found a doctor who would listen to me and did an ultrasound, showing the endometrioma growing into my bladder. It took two more laps to get most of the endo out ( I have one more coming up because the bladder mass came back), but I have to say my quality of life is so so so much better. I can't stress enough to keep trying to find a doctor to do a lap and most importantly is actually able to diagnose endo! Most OB/GYNs are not as they do not even know all the forms it can take and look like. It can and does to permanent damage to your body and organs. I know of several specialists in the area if you're interested. As they say, killer cramps are not normal.

Now I can get off my endo soapbox and say for suspected endo they put me on lo-ogestrel and then a progesterone only pill, both of which I tolerated fine but I did have more migraines with the lo-ogestrel. Good luck!

I was on this pill for a while. I actually grew to love it. No mood swings, my skin was perfect, and no period, ever. The one side effect I did have was boobs. I wasnt complaining LOL. I went off of it because the price sky rocketed. I was paying $50 and then it went up to over $100. Cant do that anymore.

I was on for a long time being we had our DS. I actually loved it. I had opposite effects. Lost weight, bigger boobs, no periods, no cramps, no mood swings. It was my magic pill.

I was on it for a few years and had no side effects at all. My period lasted like 3 days and it was very light.

Eek! I was on Lo Loestrin fe for a few years and loved it. I didn't experience of the side effects you are experiencing. Maybe this pill just doesn't work for you? I would agree to give it some more time but then discuss something else with doctor.

I was on it before I had dd and plan to go back on it now that she's vacated the premises. I never had my period, never gained weight. I'm looking forward to going back on it!

Me too the only issue was that I still had my period and it was coming every 2 weeks so they had to change for a higher dose. Btw the doctor gave a pass so I could get the pill for $25 instead of $50.. I wish it would had work on me bc it was awesome in regard to no side effect

Also, microgestin fe is the generic version for those who mentioned price concern. I switched to that once I found out it was an option.

I was on lo loestrin fe and I had the same issues with my breasts hurting. It was great because my period was almost non existent. I am now on a generic Junel Fe and no issues with that at all. Periods are extremely light.

Re: Lo loestrin fe

I went on this after having dd1, for almost a year. It was the first time in 15 years of being on bc that I had a negative reaction. I was starving all the time - never felt full - and the worst part was severe anxiety. I was ready to see a therapist or explore medication but I decided to stop the bc instead, and I was a new person after 2 weeks.

I agree with the poster above. Birth control does not make endo go away it just lessens the symptoms in some cases. Before my child I had the worst cramps and irregular period. After baby it was somewhat normal but gradually I was having cramps in my lower back butt area. It was aways shrugged off by the gyno as normal. Eventually endo penetrated my sigmoid colon and rectum and grew on and around most of my female organs. I had a lap with a colon resection. I would see a specialists that is versed in endo and get a Lap and a real diagnosis. I hope your pain goes away. One lesson I learned is major period pain in not Normal.

Did you need a lap to confirm for certain you had endo?

Yes you do need a lap for confirmation of endo. I had a colonoscopy that failed because the endo was blocking it but they still couldn't say for sure it was endo until they did the lap.

Different birth controls will have different effects on your body. It's very common to gain weight and for your hormones to react that way. Give your body some time to adjust and if you still don't like the way you feel ask to be put on different one. I've had cystic ovaries since I was 17 and was diagnosed at 21 with endo after a lap which unfortunately is the only way to be diagnosed. I've definitely had my share of annoying reactions to birth control.
