What is with all of these 'Missing Adult' alerts?
I'm noticing that lately it seems there are at least weekly postings on the parkways about missing adults. Just curious what that's about and just how often people go missing. I find it even more weird that it's always known what car they're in. I never hear anything on the news about it, just these postings as I'm driving.
I'm also wondering how it's even helpful as the descriptions are so vague.

I looked it up a few months ago because dh kept seeing them too. It seems like it's always an adult with a history of mental health, but they always seem to be "cancelled" shortly after. So I think it might just be a family member that panics, but the person is almost always found okay and not really missing.

I get tons through the NYC alert system also and have noticed a significant number of alerts for both NYC and NYS.
Here's my own theory. Those of you who also work in homecare in NYS understand that Cuomo and his Medicaid redesign team have dismantled what was known as the Lombardi program in favor of MLTC (Managed long term care) Medicaid programs.
I firmly believe the MLTCs are not willing to spend the $$ they are given to properly care for patients with dementia and Alzheimer's, and hence the uptick in wandering/missing adults. It's only my own observation.
