PICTURES GALORE!!!! GRADUATION... sorry, a little long
so much to say!!!!
quick rundown... family was thursday, graduation was friday. we left on wednesday night and stayed at a hotel on the other side of the highway from the recruit depot.
on thursday they made me suffer until noon when they released the new marines to their families. at which time, i had a lovely panic attack because i couldn't find DS in the sea of new marines. i was ready to start screaming for him... i was already crying, when SO yelled out at me that he had him. i ran to him and hugged him so tight. well, we both hugged really tight and we both cried.
we got to spend 4 hours with him. we talked and talked! we enjoyed lunch together and did a little shopping. then we had to give him back. during these hours, i got the best gift of the weekend. we were walking to get DS's stuff. my dad and DS were behind me. my dad tells DS, "so, no more mamma's boy." to which DS replies, "well, just a little." my dad had nothing more to say than... "well, we'll call you mamma's 'man'" lol
to have this new marine still want to be my boy was awesome. but we both know that he's transitioning to live his own life with me fading a little into the background and taking more of a cheerleader role.
on friday, my sister (and her kids) and my cousin (and her family) joined us at the graduation. it was lovely. not as emotional because i knew what to expect and i was able to find him much easier (plus, we had a meeting point... just in case).
from the graduation, we went to a family lunch at a local restaurant.
all weekend, i spent it doing loads and loads and loads and loads of laundry. i posted on FB that you do not know the real definition of the word FUNK until you do that first load of laundry... oh, boy!!! during the last week of basic training, they don't do laundry; so that stuff was fermenting... YUCK.
i am happy to say that i've already fed him a few of his favorite meals and have hugged and kissed him more than any other mom in the history of forever.

ps. to all who sent him a note, letter, or post card: the young man didn't not have any time to write back. during family day, he shared all his letters with me and has promised to send out thank yous during this week of rest.
it meant the world to him and to me that you took the time out to send him encouraging words. thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Put them in an album and copy and paste the links. Usually easier. Or copy and paste the web image from from FB.

we were all hungry when we got him and stopped at the first place we saw on base... it was an open area set up like festival food.
the boy ate two cheeseburgers, a pulled pork sandwich, an order of fries, two sodas.
THEN
about 30 minutes later, he ate a turkey sandwich, a bag of chips, bacon-type jerky, and another can of soda.
i was scared he would hurt himself lol

no. she is spending a lot of quality time telling anyone who will listen that she wasn't invited.  
to which my sister told her to fly a kite because NO ONE was "invited." my sister told her that if she wanted to be there, she would have made it happen... just like she makes all her DR trips happen, even when she's broke.
i will be sending her a copy of the formal portrait and one for my grandmother.
