S/O to favorite holiday scene............FAVORITE holiday memories!!!
Some of my BEST childhood memories were at Christmastime. Share some of your best holiday memories too. I'll go first!
Does anyone remember back in the "old days" before DVR's and having everything on VHS tapes when you would have to wait and wait for your favorite Xmas cartoons to air on TV? I remember getting the December TV Guide and going through it circling all of the Xmas specials and then waiting anxiously all month to watch them all.
On Thanksgiving my siblings and cousins and I would all sit down after we ate dinner and go through the big store catalogs (remember those??) like Sears and JCPenny and make our Xmas lists for Santa. We'd have SO much fun going through them and wishing for all of our favorite toys!
One of my best memories is when we'd get together with all of my aunts, cousins, and grandparents and spend the WHOLE day making Italian pizzelle cookies, cake balls, strufella, and all kinds of other goodies for Xmas Eve. It was such an awesome day. Xmas music was playing, the tree was lit, and everyone was so happy and festive. Such a great time!! I really miss those days!!!
I remember going with my cousins to have brunch with Santa back when the department stores in the mall had their own restaurants. SO much fun!!!!
I use to love to relax under the Xmas tree staring up at all of the lights and ornaments. It was always so peaceful and relaxing.
I remember barely being able to fall asleep on Xmas Eve waiting for the "big guy". The anticipation was just SO exciting.

When I was little my parents got me my first pet - a bunny. I named him Chester. He was gray and white. They brought him downstairs on Christmas morning and surprised me.
At one point, years ago, we had to start opening presents on Christmas Eve night bc my dad would work Christmas morning. He has now been retired for several years but the tradition stuck so we still open them Christmas Eve.

S/O to favorite holiday scene............FAVORITE holiday memories!!!
Every year we went to grandma's on Christmas eve. One year, we dug out a bunch of fabric we found in some trunks in the basement and put on our own nativity pageant. It was awesome. I also remember one year we ran thread all around the basement all criss crossed, and we called laser trap. That one wasn't so holy, We also play Tombola every year, and winning money was so exciting.

I got engaged Xmas eve 2007.
When I was little, my mom and I made props for the 12 days of Xmas and our family performed it lol. It's on video somewhere.
I remember staring out my window as long as I could just so I could see Santa fly by. I always fell asleep lol. One time I woke up after he arrived and my mom let me open one present - plastic costume jewelry lol.

Re: S/O to favorite holiday scene............FAVORITE holiday memories!!!
we always had a big Christmas EVE celebration with the whole family at our house. i was in charge of giving out gifts. i was always so excited to see what everyone got.
i loved the smell of our house the week leading up to Christmas Eve, my great grandmother, grandmother, and mom would make everything from scratch (pasta, pates, cakes) so it always smelled delicious.
i loved looking at the sky to see the first star (when dinner/presents would start)
we also have a tradition where everyone gets a wafer (tastes exactly like the host in church but is not blessed) and then you went around to each family member and gave them wishes and a piece of your wafer. there was always so much good cheer and kindness and as a child i got the most pieces of wafer (which i love the taste of)
decorating the christmas tree with ornaments that were 30+ years old
Christmas is my FAVORITE holiday!

For each night of Hannukah after I lit the candles, my mom would send me on a little scavenger hunt to find my night's present. I remember having so much trouble getting through the day because I was so excited for each night.

Re: S/O to favorite holiday scene............FAVORITE holiday memories!!!
I have so many favorite memories growing up from the holidays.
I loved Friday after thanksgiving my mom would take all the decorations boxes out of the attic and we would decorate all day and listen to christmas music and for lunch we would have thanksgiving left overs.
I loved Christmas Eve. My mom always hosted Christmas Eve and she would cook all day. The house would smell great and my brother and I would run around driving my poor mom crazy but we were just so excited. My grandparents would show up with huge lawn trash bags filled with toys. I would run out to the car without my shoes or coat on to help them bring in all the bags. We would try to rush everyone through dinner so we could open gifts.
