South Nassau - Meals for DH?
Hi - silly question....I'll be delivering at South Nassau in the next few days (hopefully) and was wondering if anyone had info about the meal situation. Should DH plan on getting his own dinner, etc or do they bring him a meal too.

Yes, plan on DH getting outside food they only provide food for you.
To be honest the food there sucks so you might want DH to bring you in food as well.
ETA: I loved delivering and my recovery at South Nassau, the large private rooms are great! The food was the only thing that I didn't care for.

My DH not only had to get food for himself, but for me as well because the hospital food was horrible.
Everything else is wonderful there, it's just the food that sucks.

I've never heard of any hospital giving food for the dh. He's not even admitted, you are. Both times dh brought us both food anyway from good places. Not hospital food lol

LOL yeah I was going to say, its not Club Med, it's a hospital.
You are lucky they even feed you. One night I got no dinner. The nurse said there was a note in my chart saying no food.
Umm what?
Turns out it was a mistake but by the time they cleared it up it was too late for dinner so they found me some crappy sandwich . I was starving!

I have no intention of eating the hospital food myself, so I would definitely say no!
I actually don't get why it's always so bad. I work in a hospital and the cafeteria food is excellent. I'm dead serious. Restaurant quality. The executive chef used to be at some fancy hotel, so really there's no reason for crappy food just because it's mass produced.

I sent DH out to get food in the early stages of labor. I also did not want him eating around me because I couldn't eat 
The food is yucky...I had so many people bringing in food after the baby was born so I can't complain too much

southside actually did give both dh and I lunch when I got up to the floor .. they also has really good food

LIJ Katz actually gave DH food. We didn't expect it but it was nice when he slept over and had something for breakfast without having to run out and get anything. Our DS also enjoyed coming to visit and having something to snack on lol.

NSUH Manhassett gave us a voucher for one meal for DH, lol.
The food was ok. Not terrible. Not great. Definitely good enough to eat, but nothing to write home about.
Also, if you deliver late the kitchen may close. That happened to me! Tell them to reserve something for you. There are not many choices that are open late in Oceanside / RVC. I think there is a 24 hour dinner on sunrise though. I just remember I was starving by the time I got to my room and the kitchen was closed. Luckily Au Bon Pain is open 24 hours at NSUH.

I delivered at Winthrop about 4 years ago, and they brought DH food as well everytime they brought me something. It was only a day and a half that I was there, but there were 2 cups of coffee, and an extra meal there. I thought it was because our DD was in the NICU... my parents also brought us some food but still it was a great gesture on their part!
