18 mo sudden sleep issues

Dd just turned 18mos old and went from pretty great sleeper to a nightmare in a matter of a week. She used to nap for 2 hours starting around 12:30 and then at bedtime we would go in her room at 7, rock for 30 minutes (just to have together time) then into crib at 7:30 whether asleep or awake. She may fuss for 2 minutes but that was it. The last few nights she has woken up middle of the night AND is impossible to get to sleep at bedtime. Have tried CIO at bedtime AND middle of the night but it hasn't worked. Two nights ago she cried for 2 hours and I just couldn't do it anymore. I have literally been getting in the crib w her and then sneaking out because I refuse to bring her into our bed but can't sleep in the rocker because I lose circulation after a while. I read this is typical, an 18 month sleep regression, but idk how to get through it without creating bad habits in the process. If she's in the crib and I'm right next to it she still cries. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

18 mo sudden sleep issues

Is she teething by any chance? My daughter is almost 18 months, has always been a great sleeper, and the past 1-1.5 weeks, it's been really tough! Hard time going down, waking during the night and not able to go back down, etc. I just discovered last night that she cut 2 eye teeth and is working on a third. So I'm thinking it's relating to that. It made me feel better, because I feel like it will be short lived. So for now, tough as it is, I'm just riding it out. I'm letting her nurse for as long as she wants to get to bed, sing a few extra songs, read a few extra books, get her water if she asks for it. I'm thinking she must be uncomfortable, so I'm trying to make her as comfortable as I can. I don't think it will create bad habits if it's only for a couple weeks. Good luck!

Sleep regression/teeth. Just finished going through that with my now 19 month old. Totally normal. We had to rock her to sleep both at bedtime and whenever she woke up screaming bloody murder in the middle of the night, something we never have to do normally. We had to do this for about 2 weeks while it lasted and it didn't create any bad habits.

18 mo sudden sleep issues

DS turned 18 months yesterday and has been having erratic sleep for the last few days. I'm pretty sure it is teeth related. He's been waking up around 11 and I've been giving him ibuprofen and it seems to help.

My dd did this at 18 months. She would wake up in the middle of the night and be up happily for 2-3 hours. I was not so happy LOL I as miz. This lasted for a good month. I tried everything just not CIO (just not for me) and nothing worked. So I ended up sleeping on her floor when she would wake up. It was the only solution and one day as quickly as it started it just stopped. No habits created. nothing. She just went back to her normal sleep routine.
I never got in her crib. I just slept on the floor. I would bring a pillow and a sheet LOL I would wake up and look up to check on her then back to sleep. She had her teddy with her and 1 other stuffed animal. She was just up rolling around, talking, happy and then she would just go back to sleep at some point.

Good luck 18 month regression was the worst for us. It was not fun for anyone. It sucks but it will pass. Just remind yourself it will pass.

It's probably a short phase, hopefully. I'm finding odd sleep things with my 18M old also. She has really been fighting bedtime and the past week or two takes her 45-60 min to get to sleep at night, regardless of how tired she is. Her sleep is definitely off and I'm attributing it to the 18M sleep regression. I read a week or two and it should pass.

I have been going through the same thing. I asked my pediatrician yesterday and he said that it could be teething but also at this age is when they start having night terrors.

I don't have any answers on what to do to get them back to sleep. I have been bringing DS in my bed just because I am exhausted and need my sleep too.
