Washer dryer smell????

For the past couple weeks, every time I do laundry my basement smells like rotten eggs. I had someone come check to see if it was a sewage backup but it wasn't. Today I just used the dryer and smelled it again. it seems to be coming from both appliances. I don't think either are connected to gas but I'm not sure. Could it be electrical? What type of person do I call to check it? I have two young children in the house and this makes me nervous.

Washer dryer smell????

Call your gas company, better safe than sorry. But if is your machine you need to clean it with the cleaner (tide) or run vinegar through.

You said you don't think it's connected to gas.

Do you have an electric dryer?

If you have natural gas in your home even if it your dryer is electric you should call the gas company. You may also live In a town that have sewers and the smell could be coming from a leak in a pipe. Either way make a phone call to the gas company first!

Re: Washer dryer smell????

I have a plumber coming in a few hours. I would love to call the gas company but the last time I did, they sent the fire dept. I don't want all of the sirens and fire trucks for something silly. I wish the gas company can just send someone to check.
