Wanting to sleep in our bed

DD is 2 and was always the easiest to put down to sleep and would sleep through the night. A couple of weeks ago she was upset in the middle of the night and so I made the DUMB mistake of bringing her into our bed.....Every SINGLE night she wakes up and will scream and cry, until we give in and bring her in our bed. We are loosing sleep and are at our wits end! Once she is in the bed, she sometimes will start talking or wanting to watch TV so by the time we all fall asleep it's time to wake up for work.

We have a cloud B sheep that she loves when it lights up so sometimes we give her that in her crib and she is fine until a couple of hours later and will start screaming all over again. What do we do? How do we get her back to where she was or are we doomed and this is IT! We want our bed & sleep back!!! Any advice??

My only advice is to let her cry it out. With my twins they never slept in our bed unless they were really sick with a high fever. My youngest we've brought into bed with us and it was a hard habit to break at 2.5 but I just let him cry for a few nights and eventually he started sleeping good. At 3 now he sometimes will come to my bed so he doesn't wake up his siblings but will ask after a few minutes to go back to his own bed. Good luck!!

I think you will have to let her CIO. she knows now if she screams you will give in and let come into your bed. since she still in a crib now would be the time to do since she can just get up and walk into your room! lots of luck Chat Icon

She might be ready for a big girl bed. Does she have a pillow? Your bed is probably cozier and more comfortable. It's probably just a stage. Good luck!

She has a comfy pillow that she loves, blankets, her favorite stuffed animals...anything for her to soothe herself. Thanks for the advice! I hope it is just a stage....

I was afraid everyone would say CIO...I know this sounds crazy, but literally how do you do CIO? Do I never go in and check on her while she is crying? Do I talk to her through the monitor? I know the CIO method is affective, but I'm scared to do it...will she feel abandoned/neglected?

for DS I don't get in I have in the past all that happens is I get him calm he falls asleep I put him back in and he just starts crying again which at that point I just have to let him CIO. DS who is 2 has yet to feel neglected/abandoned as far as I can tell Chat Icon Chat Icon

YUP!!
I feel that having a monitor with video helped me bc i knew he was 100% fine, but crying. Nothing was hurting him. If I couldn't "see" him i would have an issue with it.
As far as feeling abandoned I dont know if there is any way to know that, but i can tell you the times i had to do it to DS he was all smiles and loving me as soon as he opened his eyes in the morning.

DD wasn't in our bed but she kept waking for months. I had to eventually do strict CIO. I would go in and out and that made it worse. Eventually I would "yell" "talk sternly" and stand at her door and just pop in every now and and again. She was perfectly fine. She just wanted me. Since we have all been happier and better rested. She's all smiles in the morning. They won't feel abandoned, they just realize they won't get their way any more. A few nights of tough love and everything will be better

I cannot do CIO so what I would do is go into her room and stay with and comfort her without allowing her to come into your bed. slowly over time, you can stay/stand further and further away from her crib
