On the topic of children belonging in restaurants...man bans children in his restaurant
It's all about judgement, I wouldn't take my young children to a fancy place at 8:30 pm, that wouldn't be a good dinner for anyone but I would take them anywhere in the afternoon. Hey it's his place he can do what he wants.

Disney World even has a restaurant that does not allow young children. Victoria and Albert's only allows children 10 and older.
I'm a mom and I'm ok with restaurants having an age restriction. It gives us options for date nights.

who cares? I am sure there are plenty of other restaurants you can take your kid out too. he will lose business from people who have to bring their kid out to eat with them but I am sure it wont hurt his business.
I don't see this has being discriminating against anyone
Wouldn't this be considered age discrimination?
There is no such thing as age discrimination. Age is not a protected class.
Wholly irrelevant in this case as the restaurant in question is in Queensland, Australia.

Screaming babies don't belong inside restaurants.
Parents who "need" to be at certain places and "need" to not pay for sitters and allow a screaming baby to scream, harming 1) the baby (foremost); and 2) everyone else there spending money NEED rules legislated for them because they have no judgement and no concern for others (or their own babies).

No different than adult-only resorts, in my eyes.
And I have a kid lol.
But this is fine by me and there are certain restaurants I won't take Julian to -- and once, in a restaurant that was appropriate for him, he started to fuss. I took him, asked to have the food made to go and we left. It was fine by me to do that - I wanted other diners to enjoy their meal.

Actually he is in a tiny city in northern Australia (population only 1000), and there are only 4 maybe 5 other restaurants in the town. I am sure he is banking on the fact that it won't hurt his business.
I've been to north Queensland- not this particular town, but nearby. The area around Cairns is all tourism. The whole stretch along the northeastern coast are expensive vacation spots and not quite the place you'd bring kids. I don't recall seeing any children while I was there. This guy won't lose a nickel.
I would absolutely patronize a kid free restaurant.

I totally agree with his decision.
There's actually a restaurant by me that has an age policy. Jean Georges and it's more casual front room, Nougatine, do not allow children under 5 years old.
