Any attorneys? i need career advice/help
Is anyone an attorney that only does per diem work?
I am leaving my full time job and my plan is to do per diem work. I have a few questions for anyone that does this, or is an attorney and may have some knowledge.
If so, can I pm you with a few questions?
thanks!

Re: Any attorneys? i need career advice/help
A few of my friends are per diem attorneys. It depends on what area of law it is - it is easier to do per diem for cases that are small potatoes like small claims, no-fault and minor criminal matters. 1 friend who has several yrs of experience working at a foreclosure law firm is now doing per diem work for her former firm after she became a mom.
The rates really can vary depending on the firm you contract with - but I have been told its anywhere for $75-200/file (if you have as many as 50 cases in court each day, it adds up). The sucky side about per diem is lack of benefits, you have to file taxes as an independent contractor, and instability as you never know whether you will be working until a week or day before an assignment.
Hope this helps!
