What did you register for that you never used?
FTM here. I have a list of thing that I SHOULD register for but what should I not bother with?
So far I know I'm going to go with disposable diaper bags over a diaper genie.

What did you register for that you never used?
I didn't register for bottle warmer, wipe warmer, shopping cart cover, fancy bottles. I returned the bouncer and waterproof mattress cover.

- Baby care timer (it helps you easily record when baby last got changed, ate, fell asleep, etc.) I thought for SURE I'd be overwhelmed and need this, but it was just silly. Hadn't used it once.
- Bottle warmer - I got 2 at my shower and never ended up pumping anyhow so it was useless. Returned one, but saved the other and used it a lot when I started babysitting a formula fed little guy about a year later.
- Nursing Pillow. I used it the first week and that was all. I just found it a lot more comfortable to cuddle up to her without it. Although I do believe I did use it later to help her with her neck control (Laying her on her belly, propped up on it during floor playtime when she was very little)
- One of those shower-cap style carseat covers. Didn't use it. If it was that cold that blankets couldn't suffice, I just stayed home! lol.
- The Swaddle Me. I got a bunch of them thinking they were AWESOME because i know how babies love to be wrapped. My DD did not like it at all.
That's all I can think of for now. On the other side of things though, I will say that some of the best things I got were my video monitor, baby carrier (bijourn/sling), bouncy chair (helped a lot while I was working out or in shower), swing, white noise machine. Can't think of any others off the top of my head. It was 4 years ago so I'm surprised I even remember all these. lol.

Shopping cart/high chair cover. I couldn't figure out how to use it so we never did.

What did you register for that you never used?
Bottle warmer, nursing pillow (we use it to sit DS up sometimes, but it definitely was something we didn't NEED), and swaddles (DS hated being swaddled - he wasn't even swaddled with his arms in when he was in the hospital because he would freak out).

I really think it depends on your individual needs. At 13 months, I still use my nursing pillow daily. DS was also swaddled in a swaddleme til he was 4 months old.

It's really so different for everyone..I use my diaper genie and shopping cart cover all the time-same with boppy until she was 5 months or so
Never swaddled, and we very very rarely use our play pen

This! I used many of the items people are saying they didn't- bottle warmer, boppy, diaper genie, halo sacks, swaddle mes... every baby is different. I swore I wouldn't use a bottle warmer. I thought they were a total waste of time. Fast forward to when my newborn had to be on ready to feed formula which is stored in the fridge. I had to run out and buy one. It's just hard to know. Sorry- I know that's not very helpful!

I opened and boiled 50 pacifiers. Twins never took one even after I tried and tried
Opened every bottle. They preferred dr browns
Opened every swaddle. Never used
I could have had hundreds in returns lol

After reading many of the comments, I said to myself - just open one or two of a particular item and see how baby reacts before opening/washing them all.

i agree with most of the previous posts...
bottles and pacifiers were trial and error, so dont stock up on too many
returned my bottle warmer and wipe warmer after never using them
I also find the expensive crib bedding sets to be a waste - we never used the blanket that came with it...just lots of crib sheets
newborn diapers - even in the hospital they used size 1
newborn size clothing - if your LO is small you may want a few...but i would stick to 3-6 month
got a hand me down breast friend (or maybe it was a boppy) never used it with either of my kids that I breast fed
never used the shopping cart cover either
I think what is important is to keep all packaging and receipts you get...and wait and see. every child (and parent) is different, so what works for you may not work for someone else. i find that BRU and BBB have great return policies so just wait it out

A Bumbo. DS hated it. I mean HATED. Never lasted longer than a few mins, and usually just a few seconds.

so true. and every kid is different!
my first hated to be swaddled, my second loved it
my first used a paci for a few months, my second not at all
I never used the bottle warmer or a boppy. otherwise, between the 2 kids, I used everything else.
my advise is to not open and wash everything at once. but chances are, you're still going to be running out last minute to buy stuff and returning things you never used.

We never used the boppy.
We never got a bottle warmer or wipes warmer.
Everything else I used (including bumpers & I love the diaper genie!).

swaddle me- we like the halo swaddle sacks
blankets and sheets- I registered for a few but got a ton so I had way too many
pacifiers
soaps and lotion- got tons and I ditched most after a few tries bc DD didn't react well

YES! A lot of the items I never used for DD because she hated them, I used for my DS because he LOVED them (swing, swaddles, etc)
I pretty much didn't use the "Brest Friend" nursing pillow. But I LOVED my boppy. Used it until I weaned DD at 2 and DS at 18m. I actually had two (one for upstairs and one for downstairs  )
Both kids hated the Bumbo chair.
I used almost everything else that I registered for. I did get a TON of clothes that the kids never wore. Especially really cute but difficult to get on newborn clothes. My kids lived in Sleep in Plays as newborns, so those cute clothes just sat there! Also shoes for little babies. My kids usually just one one pieces, bare feet or socks!

Everyone is different and every child is different. LIke others my dd
hated being swaddled NEVER used 1 of them.
ITEMS NO USE:
Swaddle blankets and the ones with the Velcro that make it easy
Biggest waste for me was my breast pump wish I would have just borrowed from a friend because I only ended up doing it about 2.5 months and it was $300. Never used again. =/
Dr Browns bottles didn't work for me
all the frilly over the top clothes
the 100 blankets I got with no gift receipts
pacifiers
I would suggest do not open everything. If you get multiples of things only open 1 to try. Don't do bottle starter kits just register for each bottle. Like Dr Browns register for small and large bottles BUT don't open them all open 1 package of small. Register for the different flow nipples but don't open them all. This way if your DC doesn't like Dr Browns and you have to switch bottles you can return the other unopened bottles and just exchange.
And like pp said, I got so many clothes that I took the tags off and washed, then later regretted not listening to everyone who told me not to do that because so much was a waste!
My dd lived in onesies and sleep n plays. I got so many dresses and frilly outfits that were over the top that she never wore.

bottle warmer (LOVED I wasn't waiting 10 min with a screaming baby for hot water to heat up a bottle)
JJ Cole body Contour
JJ Cole car seat blanket thing (it zips around them gets attached to car seat great for winter do not even need a jacket)
JJ Cole stroller blanket
REGISTER for it but don't open everything and you can always just use the store credit. cause you will end up in babies r us or buy buy baby every single day for something. Somehow I always ended up there LOL
DO NOT register for clothes. that I say with certainty because SOOO many people don't even follow your registry and end up buying you clothes.

i never used a high chair
i used a crib maybe 1-2 months for both kids, so that was a waste for me
but yet a lot on the list that people didn't use i used daily.
my DS used the swaddle till 6 months old
my DD used the miracle blanket until she was 8 months old
we loved the bottle warmer was used for DS, but my DD could not stand warm formula so she drank hers room temperature or cold
both my kids HATED the infant carrier, so each one was out by 3 months old. so for me that was a waste too
my pack n play was used as storage. i don't think my kids used it.
register for EVERYTHING and use only what you think you will want to use

Be careful if registering for after market accessories for your car seat. No bundle me's that need to be threaded through the straps and no infant inserts either, unless they came with the seat.

We got the miracle blanket that wraps around hem a million times. I didn't like it bc when they broke free there was a ton of extra fabric around them. DDs were small though so it never fit right. We used a and a blankets and swaddle me. I got like 12 a and a blankets for 2 babies but I didn't need that many at all.
Never used the fabric diaper holder that went with the set. (Bought pieces separately so it was a waste).
Never for or needed bottle warmer or a wipe warmer
Still use diaper genie.
We got a few different pacis to see what they preferred.
We started on dr browns bottles but they were a pita to wash so I switched to ventaire. Now we will use drop ins this time.
We used boopys often until they stopped drinking bottles.
