Re: Do you reply "Thank You" to work emails?

Usually as an acknowledgement of something.
But, I also don't get hundreds of emails a day.
I also work in a pretty thankless field so I think acknowledgement goes a long way.
There are other things people do with email that are a great deal more annoying.
This is definitely a LIF-ism in terms of annoyances.
I think you make very good points. Maybe because healthcare is such a different animal from the business world (although we could argue it's now one in the same eh?). I also don't get hundreds of emails a day, perhaps if I did it's safe to say i'd never do a thank you unless it was the Admin or something.
I also work with some snakey people who intentionally don't reply and then say 'oh i didn't get that email'...
People outside the health system often tell me they don't open my email. It's because the health system automatically encrypts and you have to make your own account to open them. Not sure if it works easily on smartphones either....

I always respond with a thank you. It in a way acknowledges that I've received the information needed, and it works the other way too when I send stuff out.
It's only annoying when I'm not directly involved.

I hate when people do it for something small. I hardly ever do it to our vendors b/c I feel bad cluttering their email.

Re: Do you reply "Thank You" to work emails?
For the most part I do. For small things not really, but I feel like if I'm teaching my kids to use manners then the same goes for me. I do get a lot of emails and I'm actually the opposite about getting annoyed there's a "thank you" email in my inbox bc it's just something I give a quick smile to myself that it was appreciated or acknowledged then I move on and delete it. A few less things in my emails and the feeling of being appreciated I guess.
It's the non appreciative emails or lack there of that get me annoyed. All the hard work and then nothing.

Re: Do you reply "Thank You" to work emails?
Sometimes. I like to acknowledge the help and information provided esp if someone went out of their way.

Do you reply
I'm a fan of replying thank you to just the sender (and not hitting reply all)

Do you reply
I think for group emails when everyone replies thanks or congrats it clogs up everyones emails. If someone does something that I appreciate, I'll send an email only to that person and it will say more than thanks. It will say thanks for x, y, and z etc, etc. Just saying "thanks" repeatedly w/o anything behind it are like the ton of people who write happy birthday on facebook who barely know you...

Re: Do you reply "Thank You" to work emails?
I'm in the camp of saying thanks to communicate that I got the email….however I think there's a real difference between replying "thank you" to the sender, and hitting reply all with "thank you".
I hate being part of a "reply all" when someone's just saying thank you.

This. It's more of an acknowledgement that something is done and loose ends are tied up than the actual sentiment of a thank you

No - i get too many emails a day and everything is sending some type of info. I say thank you when I know someone went out of their way or responded quickly bc i had an urgent question...
