Bars near penn station
Does anyone have any to recommend somewhat near penn ( walking distance or a short cab ride) for a bachelorette party? I'm not familiar at all with the city.

Local.. right near penn and has a rooftop area.
galway pub 36th b/w 5th and Madison (that was actually our first stop at my bach party)
also theres tons of bars in murray hill on 34th and 3rd which is about a 15 min walk

Katwalk is nice. More of a lounge but not super high end. I think it was featured on sex and the city once.

I agree with katwalk and stout....there's also a bar next door to stout (forgot the name) but they have a roof top deck

I agree with previous posters -- Katwalk for a loungier, swanky vibe (but not pretentious or anything!) and Stout for more of a bar/pub feel....

Bars near penn station
Katwalk is now called something else and a bit more of a sports bar. Beer Authority is just a few blocks up from Penn. Roof top good food.

Stout is more of a really nice large pub not a rooftop. Blarney Rock is a hole in the wall kind of pub but a lot of ppl go there.
Lucy's is a mexican place closer to 8th and Local's is opposite of it. Local's has the better rooftop imo.
