You can flip it anytime you're ready.
Pregowithtwins most crib mattresses have an infant side and a toddler side. The infant side is harder and toddler softer. You'd want to wait until they are past the SIDS risk so at least 1 year.

Ours has two sides. I forget what brand we have, I think it's sealy but it actually has toddler printed all over one side. I haven't bothered to switch it at 2 but figured I would once we put it in the toddler bed in a few months.

I never heard of this either. My kids mattresses were the same on both sides and we never flipped them.

Dd is 22mos and just the other day while changing her sheets did I realize her mattress does say infant/toddler on each side. I have no idea which side was down for the past 22mos bc I take the whole thing out of crib to put cover and new sheet on.
When do I flip to toddler? At 2?
