Cheesesteak in Philly - additional question

My SIL and I are taking a day trip to Philly for the Please Touch Museum. We would love to get a Philly cheesesteak for the ride home. Does anyone know the area well enough to suggest a place that's good and that one of us can run in and out of while the other stays with the kids in the car?

ETS: We're leaning towards Tony Luke's or John's. Non-porous eater here, so though I'm sure DiNic's is great, we won't end up there. As far as Tony Luke's and John's goes, will it be feasible for my SIL to stay in the car with the kids while I run in and take out the cheesesteaks?

Cheesesteak in Philly

Gino's and Pats are the most famous ones and they are literally right across the street from each other. We have stopped there on the way home and dh just ran up to get one to go.

I love Tony Luke's too. If by any chance you get to go to the terminal market, DiNic's has the most amaaaazing pork loin with broccoli Rabe sandwich ever known to man. We're going to Sesame Place on Tuesday, and will be making a pit stop there for lunch!

We stopped at Geno's and Pat's and got one cheesesteak from each to taste test.

John's, Tony Luke's and Campos are our favorites.

Pat's and Geno's are real tourist traps IMO and the cheesesteaks are not that good. Geno's is particularly awful.

My DH is obsessed with cheesesteak, before we had DS we used to drive to Philly for the day so he could have one, no joke.

Re: Cheesesteak in Philly

Wow, thanks so much for the replies! I'm leaning towards John's or Tony Luke's. I know it's a city and everything, but would it be fairly easy to run in while my SIL and kids waited in the car for me?

Genos and Pats are the ones that you see on Food Network and hear about, we were in Philly recently and went to Pats, walked past Genos and it looked like the exact same thing. It was delish, I mean you can't really mess up sliced steak and cheez whiz haha

Jim's on South St is my favorite. There is always a line out the door, even in 0 degree weather.

Don't like Geno's at all.
