Open market
I just need to vent. I feel so defeated. I look on open market everyday and there are very few openings for guidance counselors in the Queens area. I emailed every principal my cover letter and resume. Ughh I have never been so stressed. I am being excessed at the end the year and I feel this is really taking a toll on me.

It's early yet. Open Market will post positions into August, and once it closes, positions are posted exclusively for ATRs. Queens is traditionally a rough job market but you will find something. Hang in there.

I was just coming on here to post the same thing!!!!!!!! I'm looking for a classroom teaching position as I have been at a school in the Bronx for 10 years and the commute is just getting too expensive!
I've been emailing my resume and cover letter to principals and applying on open market and nothing!! I am so frustrated and discouraged :(((((

I'm worried that I will become an ATR and have to travel to new schools every couple of weeks. I did the samething and emailed principals. I am going to try to be positive....June will be our month!!

Don't let it stress you out too much!! I found both my teaching jobs in queens end of august.
Also, as much as this sucks, last two weeks of August I spent a few days driving around hand delivering my resume and cover letter to schools. I got a few interviews that way. Either right on the spot or for the next day. Good Luck!!!
