Do your kids do any classes? I feel like by the time i pickup DS from school i gotta start dinner and then we play a bit and its bedtime. Id do them on weekends but i hate the idea of leaving 1 kid w my parents to spend time w the other kid in a class! What do you do?

No classes but lots of sports. Games all the time we are barely making it too after work or taking every too on the weekend. No matter what, we all go. They are crazy hectic nights, Im not going to lie. One of usually picks up/brings dinner and brings it for the kids not playing and they eat there. If it is a game night, we do baths the night before so its one less thing to worry about. Its crazy hectic, but we maange.

Re: FTWM w 2 or more kids

We have a piano teacher come to the house and do Saturday morning science class. 5yo DS is obsessed with ninjas and we signed him up for tae kwon do. He enjoys it but we barely make it to one class per week (4 time slots per week that we can attend).

DS has done soccer in the past but didn't love it. It was SUCH a pain to take him to soccer.

Many activities are drop off. I usually spend quality time with the younger child while the older child is in class. DS#2 loves going to the grocery store with me while DS#1 goes to tae kwon do. When DS goes to science class, DS#2 and I go to starbucks, pet store, library, party city, CVS, etc. It is probably the only one on one time I have with younger DS.

Up until this year we just did swimming - we found a program where both of them could go.

Starting this year, only my older DS does swimming on Saturdays and then he does soccer on Sundays. My DH has a crazy schedule so I am planning on putting DS 2 in art classes since they are flexible (I don't have to sign up for a session).

I only have one but no classes. He will play soccer and hockey when he is a bit older but I feel there is no need for classes. He has daycare and they do tons there so why give up my time with him for classes.

When he is school age he will get to pick one thing to do. I refuse to schedule the hell out of us. Its not how I grew up and don't think my ds needs to be involved in 8 million activities.

no but I feel like all day every day (at school) is a class. They have a program called Jump Bunch which introduces them to sports, they do centers which contain arts/music/movement etc.

I do want to get my 4 year old signed up for a sport though!

Mine are still in daycare, and no activities yet. I feel like they do alot at school. I've been thinking about soccer for DS next year but not sure I want to be bothered running around on the weekends! When they are in elementary school I will put each of them in one activity (or one per season depending on what it is) But I do worry how I will accomodate school hours, work FT and run around for activities it seems impossible!

No.
I have no time for that and don't find it necessary at her age.

Re: FTWM w 2 or more kids

My 3.5 yr old plays soccer on sunday mornings and he is on t-ball 2 nights per week. It is a lot and only 1 season. I usually take a break in summer and do nothing and another break around the holidays with nothing. Seems to be a good balance. I have an 8 month old too who just gets dragged around .

Re: FTWM w 2 or more kids

DD does dance Saturday mornings and I sometimes sign her up for a weekday class at the library. Usually they are a one time class or run for about 4 weeks, but it's also not a big deal if we miss one.

no classes.... we do sports..

ds did soccer at first, we'd pack up toys for second kid to play with. then other sports we sometimes split one parent to one kid.

I have 1 DC but I am a FTWM.... if I were to enroll my DS in any type of classes it would have to be on a weekend. Currently I am looking into a gymnastics type place for Saturdays in the summer.

My boys just started martial arts twice a week. I work from home though so that makes it easier. For you, I would probably give them a sandwich in the car and a piece of fruit or something. Then you eat later.

Re: FTWM w 2 or more kids

my 2 ds's are home with my mil during the day, I have the older one enrolled in an activity every day. The little one is only 8 months..

I used to try and do a weekend activity like soccer or whatever when it was just the one kid, but havent done anything since the 2nd came around. I am contemplating soccer or swimming in the fall- hopefully by then I'll have more of a handle and a better schedule set up.
