Toddler falling-reaction
This is a vent/request for words of wisdom!
DD is almost 3. Very stubborn, independent…all of the nice words you can use to label an opinionated strong willed 3 year old girl.
When she fall (which is a lot b/c i swear she trips over air) she freaks out! She does not want to be picked up, held, comforted. She gets down right nasty. Sometimes I just need to see if she is hurt. If i go near her she tries to hit me and she screams at me to get away.
I really think it's an embarrassment thing.
I have tried just giving her space, but like I said sometimes I need to check her for injury or just want to give the poor kid a hug. It's such a fight!
Today she fell in a store. She immediately started crying and I picked her up and she slapped me across the face! I was so embarrassed. I talk to her about it when she eventually calms down, but I don't think she get it.
Does anyone else have a toddler that does this if they fall? How do you deal with it?
Thanks. Sorry for the long post!
