Kayak is good for comparisons across different airlines/travel sites.

I use skyscanner app... You can track diff flights and see what has gone up n down

DH and I have been using this one run by google: http://matrix.itasoftware.com
We then check on Kayak to look at if it is a good time to buy.

Yapta will track flights you select and text you when they drop in price.
After you purchase the flights they text you if they drop further so you can get a credit.
They also send weekly emails with current pricing of flights you are watching. I've saved lots of money using this website.

Kayak is pretty good to compare flights among different carriers....not so sure they are any cheaper than going straight through the airline themselves though.
