Antibiotic ? (Kids)
I just got back from taking DS to the pediatrician because he's been running a fever all day.
He was diagnosed with the flu and strep.
Just got home and realized one of the meds isn't flavored. (not sure if it's amoxicillin or something else by the abbreviation)
DS gave us a horrible time. He downed the Tamiflu but then complained about this too.
I'll deal with it in the AM but do you think they can give us something different that tastes better?
I remember getting flavored antibiotics when I was kid that tasted like bubblegum.
He rarely gets sick so this is new to me. DH mixed it with chocolate milk but I think he could still taste it.

Call the pharmacy, they can probably flavor it for you for like $3. Plus, they probably have flavors he can choose from.

I've only dealt with the bubble gum amoxicillin for my dd but she refuses all medicine, so I mix it with apple sauce and she, so far, doesn't realize its in there. Just check with the pharmacy or dr. to make sure you can mix it with something.
Also, I remember I used to see a sign at CVS that said they could flavor medicine for an extra couple of dollars, so you could ask about that too.

Thanks ladies. My dad just called and he even suggested mixing it with chocolate pudding.
I'll call them in the AM. They're not my normal pharmacy so I think they're probably closed.

You can get them flavored for a charge. The problem with putting it in food is that you have to make sure they get the whole thing down. I have had to bribe mine. Drink the cup or suck the syringe quick then have waiting drink in hand, with the promise of gum, cookie or whatever I need at time usually works. Mine used to be horrible about taking things. Are you sure it isn't flavored? I though most had berry or bubblegum flavor to them.

this is probably augmentin. it is gross and even with flavoring it still doesnt taste right. my kids give me a hard time with this one too

Yes I was going to say the same thing, definitely sounds like Augmentin which doesn't taste as good as the pink amoxicillin.

Yep, sounds like augmentin. I think the pudding is a great idea because no flavoring will mask the taste and the chalkiness is gross. My kids hate it but would literally drink the pink one out of the bottle if I let them lol (obviously I wouldn't!)
