Cleaning after a stomach virus
What do you do? DH and I were sick with a stomach virus on Xmas eve and day so I spent yesterday praying to Jesus that DD doesn't get it AND sanitizing my house with Lysol and clorox wipes. But then I read last night that those products don't kill the norovirus - only bleach and water do.
When I read further on the bleach and water solution, it says you can use on non porous surfaces. Can I use that on granite? What about a butcher block countertop? I'm so confused. And grossed out!!!

Re: Cleaning after a stomach virus
I do use Clorox Anywhere Spray on my granite. It's a lower concentration of bleach but it does do the job. I spray it, let it sit the recommended amount of time, then wipe with a paper towel. I then spray Granite cleaner to remove any residue it may have left behind.
I am not sure about butcher block though- I don't have that in my house.
ETA- it's also very possible that you did not have Norovirus- just another strain of stomach virus so you might be ok with Lysol

Cleaning after a stomach virus
I've used bleach and water spray mixture on my granite counter tops before with no problem. All three of my kids had a terrible stomach virus the other day too. Honestly, the Noto virus I'm pretty sure is a very fast moving virus. If that's what you guys had, I am pretty sure your DD would have gotten it already. Not to say that she still can't get the stomach virus but we had the Moro virus last year. It took out our entire daycare as well as all the parents in less than 12 hours. And it took days for us to all feel better. Almost a full week before were 100% ok. Still, it doesn't hurt to go around the house with a bottle of water and bleach spray and also wipe down DD's toys with bleach and water. Hope you all feel better! This is a terrible time for a stomach virus.

Cleaning after a stomach virus
Hate to tell you if you both had it you can't stop your DD at this point. SHe has already been exposed to it.
We had it in my house. DS was first and he got it on 12/12. My FIL babysits and he got it 12/17 and I didn't get it until 12/19. Then my mom got it 12/25. I was cleaning my house daily from the minute DS got it but he was probably exposed to it days before he showed any signs.

Re: Cleaning after a stomach virus
But also take heart- I have had horrendous stomach viruses that DD never caught and vice versa. So sometimes you can get away lucky!
