2 year old has a tooth growing behind a tooth
Help please....I know he will probably need a X-ray, but the dentist doesn't have appt until the end of the week. My DS has a tooth growing behind a tooth. He is in pain, because he is refusing to eat and when he tries to eat he says ouchie. My heart is breaking for him. What will the dentist do for him? Did anyone to through this with their child?

It is called sharks teeth. At 2 I think it is still young but I had my adult 2 front bottom teeth come in behind my baby teeth. I had to have the baby ones pulled because they would not come in on their own.
My DH's niece has it and because she had a bunch of them grow in that way she needed a retainer.

Is it an extra? My son (recently turned 3) has an extra tooth--it sort of half overlaps his front right one. My SIL is a dentist and she said it wasn't anything to worry about. In fact, my nephew--her son--had an extra tooth as well. She just said it took forever to fall out when he was 7 or whatever he was. My son's doesn't cause him any problems, and he doesn't even have his first dental visit until the new year, so it's not troubling to me right now. I guess I'll learn more in the new year...

No answer regarding what the dentist will do, but I am surprised they won't see him until the end of the weekl
I would call back and tell them he is in pain or call another dentist to get him in today or tomorrow. Tooth pain can be really painful - I can't imagine for a 2 year old.

Thank you all. It looks like an extra tooth, but it definitely bothers him. Any recommendations for a dentist in Nassau? I want to get him an appt ASAP. TIA

Hubby still has the 'spare' one behind a tooth. Just lived that way. They rather not pull it as it's on the roof of his mouth and can affect the way he speaks, etc.

My husband had two rows of teeth as a kid ..I forget what happened though ...he doesn't know either but I remember my mil telling me...I love comfort dental in plainview and Huntington locations
