gas for dryer

we are moving this month to our new home that has gas heat, but electric hook up for dryer and electric stove. Since we need to buy a washer/dryer (stove is new), is it worth it to switch to gas for the dryer? We plan to have children in the next few years, so i know the frequency of laundry will increase greatly.

How much would something like this cost? Any help would be appreciated!

It depends on how far the existing gas is from the dryer location.

Best bet is to just get prices from a couple places.

I don't know how much it costs to convert everything (I would imagine at least several thousand) but we have gas everything and I love it.

I feel like our utilities are much more affordable.

And I do laundry now at least every other day between myself, DH and DS.

If the gas line in your home is relatively close to the dryer, it should not be that much money or that difficult. My DH did it himself. Bought the pipe, connected it.

I dont think the gas line is too far, I'd say about 15 ft. I will have to call around once we close. Thank you all!

I think we pd. $300-500 to run a 30' gasline from the boiler room to under the kitchen for our 'new' 1953 Chambers stove (yeah, I'm bragging). Be sure to have shut-off valves installed @ behind the stove & at the split in the basement.

the first thing I did after purchasing, was to convert from oil to gas. I had lines run for the stove and dryer. I wash at least 3 times a week and bill isn't too bad.
