Buying baby food in bulk

DS devours his stage 1 food, and to pay $1.15 for 2 containers of Gerber's is becoming more expensive then I anticipated. Does BJ's sell baby food? Where do you buy in bigger packages? Doesn't have to be Gerber's brand...

I think I have seen baby food in bulk there. But honestly, if you really want to save money, make your own, it is so simple and MUCH cheaper. It is especially easy to make stage 1. I am asking for the Beaba for Christmas!

I really want to - but I just can't. I feel spread thin enough as it is, and just can't add another thing to my plate Chat Icon

I followed the sale and clipped coupons. Gerber ALWAYS have coupons and you can usually find it also on sale at BRU, Target or Walmart.

I never payed full price for formula or babyfood....also if you are not stuck on one brand, then always buy whats on sale...each week one of the major brands is on sale.

Thanks for the suggestions! Where did you find coupons? Online? Is it ok to switch brands?

BRU has the earth's best jars in bulk. I'm not sure where else sells them. There are always sales if you take the time to check a few fliers before you shop. DD still eats pouches and I try to only buy them at shoprite since they're way cheaper there. I haven't looked at their prices for the jars but if you're near one it may be worth checking out.

As far as the suggestion about making your own, it may be worth making a few things and buying the rest. You can bake a few sweet potatoes and a butternut squash all at once and then puree and have enough for over a month. I also did the frozen peas where you throw the whole bag in the microwave and then blend it up. Also, buy regular applesauce in the big jars rather than ones geared for babies.

I always bought mine through diapers.com. If you watch for sales you can do really well and they have a great selection.

yes. You will be switching brands on them for the rest of their lives so they might as well get used to it now.

Coupons - paper, online, store websites.

BJ's does sell bulk of Gerber, I have seen it. I found baby food to be the cheapest at wal-mart.

I stock up when I see sales. Targets prices are pretty good and their Up and Up pouches have great flavors and are cheaper than the other brands. I love them!

Stocking up is fine but remember that soon enough your DS will probably be on stage 2 foods, which are usually bigger. And then he'll be eating table foods, too. So just keep that in mind before you buy 500 jars of something he might never eat!

Buying baby food in bulk

The only differences between stage 1 and 2 is the size of the container and the combos. You can move to stage 2 whenever they have had at least one of the ingredients in the stage 2 combos.

Ex. You have given stage one bananas, apples, peas, green beans, carrots, etc. A stage 2 will have apples and cherries. Because they have had apples with no reaction any reaction now would be from the cherries.
