Do I get another convertible car seat or a booster? Please give advice!
I have a DS who will be 2 next month and another on the way due in February. I know that we will be using the carseat for a while...but my question is would it be better (for when the carseat is no longer used) to buy a second convertible car seat for the new baby, or buy a booster seat for my DS (of course the one with the 5 point harness) and use the convertible for the new baby? He will be forward facing next month so either would work. The man in the store was really no help as he said we could do what we wanted.
What would you recommend doing or what have you done? I know we're a while off but would like to put whatever we choose on our registry. Thanks!!

My son is 2.2yrs and he's pretty tall for his age. Used to be in the britax advocate, recently we bought the frontier 85 for him Bc we plan to put his sister in the advocate. I love the frontier, he loves the room he's very secure and it will grow with him better IMO. Hth!

I would look at the following 5 point harness convertible car seats that can become High Back Boosters:
Britax Fontier
Britax Advocate
Greco Argos
Greco Nautilus
For me the issue with the Greco products is that the center strap is positioned very far back, so a boy will not be comfortable past age 3/4 depending upon his size. I wanted something with a center strap.
At 2 your DC is too young for just a high back booster (minimum 4 years old and 40 lbs). I was in your situation and I purchased a second Britax Boulevard for my second child. Once my older DC outgrew that I purchased a Britax Parkway SGL with latch to 100 lbs as my car can accommodate that weight limit. I plan on keeping it as a High Back Booster until he outgrows it.

As always, before this question can be answered properly with regard what to buy, what car or cars do you have?
That said, when anyone has a second child, it is best and economical to purchase the new seat, called a combination seat, for the older child and give the older child's set to the younger child to be used rear facing.
That said, the last post had one error, the Britax Advocate is not a combination seat, it is a convertible seat and cannot be made into a booster.
For the most part the two main seats that work well with most cars are the Graco Nautilus and Argos. If you have a older car then the Argos Elite is the best choice for the Graco line.
The Frontier is also a good choice, but mostly with the upper end cars like the Mercedes and the BMW. The seat also works well with many other cars, but does have problems in certain SUV's.
You cannot gor wrong with these seats. Evenflo does also have a few combination seats but these are very car dependent.
Just remember when baby #2 comes move the older child to the driver side and place the younger child on the passenger side. Do not place the children next to each other.

It fits in all the places I put it (sedan, SUV, suburban, airplane and van).

I would buy a Graco Myride 70 or headwise. I wouldn't worry about a booster yet and just get a good conv. seat.

for safety I would get another convertible seat and keep them rear facing till the seat requires them to be turned. rear facing is the safest, and if beyond the seats requirements a car seat is safer then a booster. Just my thoughts.
