speech pathologists through insurance? in network speech therapy
we are going through our insurance for speech therapy for my 20 month old. My insurance gave me a list of about 10 in network physicians to choose from.
How on earth do I pick one when it lists no information about them, if they do services in the home, certifications, etc etc?
if you went through your insurance, how did you pick who to use? did you call each one with a list of questions?

The ASHA web site (asha.org) has a list of clinicians certified by ASHA which is the primary certification in the field. Most therapists are certified. You can check the list of therapists provided to make sure. If you are looking for a specialized certification in a certain type of therapy (i.e. prompt), you can check through the program you are looking for web site.
The best way to find out if they do in house therapy is to call and ask.
To practice Speech therapy in NYS you must be licensed and you must have a master's degree and complete continuing education. There are probably very few ways you can go wrong.
