I'm going to guess they didn't have much rehearsal time. They really were trying to keep it a secret, and some of the guys didn't even arrive in NY until the days right before the show. And I mean, c'mon...it's been awhile for those guys haha They just needed a little help 
Someone said that Joey Fatone was having a hard time keeping up. I was too excited about seeing NSYNC to notice/care.
I did feel like JT was a little "ok, we are done here, be gone" after it was done.
