I did Clomid with IUIs. We are unexplained too. Clomid is usually the first step in treatments. You take it in pill form. I had minimal side effects. Mostly I had bloating and was tired. I went in for monitoring around cd 10. GL

For me, clomid helped me ovulate, which I could not do on my own. I took it at night to minimize side effects, which were hot flashes, vivid dreams, and sometimes in the morning my vision was a little blurred.

It worked great, just didn't get me my bfp. But everyone reacts different. A friend of mine who is unexplained got her bfp the first month.

Good luck!!!

Just be careful how long you take it for. I've read varying reports on not staying on it longer than six months, other reports said twelve months, because eventually it can thin your lining.

Hopefully you'll only need it once!

Re: Clomid

Glad to hear it all came out ok.

I took clomid and pregnant on the first try with DD. I was not monitored back then. We just did timed intercourse. Did it a bunch of times (like 7) between TI and IUI's. I responded each time, just didn't work.

Side effects were mainly bloating and hot flashes, especially at night. I was told to take it at night to minimize side effects. It wasn't that bad at all for me.

Good luck!!!

I did one round of clomid/IUI and got pregnant with DS. I was not ovulating on my own. When I started the cycle the RE wanted us to do timed intercourse. I requested to do an IUI and he agreed. The clomid gave me headaches and made me moody, but it also gave me DS! Good luck!

Re: Clomid

We were unexplained IF too, but I also had a blockage in one of my tubes that was cleared during my HSG.

I ovulated on my own.

Clomid helped improve the quality of my eggs.

First round of clomid, 50 mg, resulted in my twin Chat Icon Chat Icon

Yay that is awesome! Congrats to you. My HSG was ok so I am hoping this is just the extra push we need. Did you have any side effects?

Nothing unbearable or unexpected. I think just some headaches, moodiness, hot flashes.

I had no issues with Clomid. I used it for IUI.
