Girl name help

Hi,

I am 35 weeks and DH and I are having trouble choosing a name. It didn't bother me earlier, but as the date approaches I am starting to get nervous. We have similar names that we both like but we both like our choice better.

I guess I would describe our taste as old-fashioned with a liking for cute nicknames. A name doesn't have to have a nickname, but those just happen to be the case with the names we like.We also don't want anything super popular, ie on the top ten list. We have a very easy matching last name, so that's not a consideration. Here's a list of the names we like:

Samantha (nn Sam, Sami, etc)
Margaret (nn Maggie)
Madeleine (nn Maddy)
Megan (nn Meg)
Eleanor (nn Ellie or Nora)

We like all of those names but none of them feel 100% right like it did with out first daughter. Any suggestions? Opinions? I am looking for more ideas to give to DH. TIA!

P.S. Our first daughter is Catherine (nn Cate).

I am replying because MY 1st DD's name is Katherine. It's funny...our choices for DD#3 were Eleanor or Margaret (Margaret was finalized on the last day!), but DC#3 was a boy. Chat Icon Anyway....our DD#2 is Abigail. We call her Abby or Abs almost exclusively.

HTH! Good luck with your decision!

Another vote for Madeleine. My third daughter is Madelyn. I also think alexandra goes with your other name ideas. Some other possibilities:
Amelia
Elizabeth
Charlotte
Juliana/juliette
Camille

Re: Girl name help

I like Margaret. I know too many Maddy's now. 3 of my cousin's kids under 3 have Maddy as a nick name whether its for Madison or Madelyn or what not. All names are pretty though.

Re: Girl name help

I love the name Anabelle, nickname Ana/Annie/Belle/Bella. Another favorite is Amelia (Mia, Lia, Amy as possible nicknames).

I also love Abigail (Abby), Olivia (Livvie), Lydia (Lydie), Mabel (Mae/Belle). Just a few that I think are a bit more old fashioned and classic but beautiful, and with sweet nicknames to go with.

Good luck!

Re: Girl name help

Crashing here but I didn't choose my dd name until I was on the OR table. Once I was under real pressure to choose I just did it. It's so stressful when you feel like nothing fits but it will come to you.

I love Margaret And Megan. If we go for a third we and we have another girl we are likely going to name her Megan.

Re: Girl name help

Thanks everyone! Hubby is on a business trip this weekend, but I am e-mailing him a list of names, based partially on your suggestions! The opinions are really helpful (I love Madeline/Maddy, but am a little concerned about the popularity)and the suggestions are great! I really appreciate it.

If you don't want something top ten I'd steer away from Madeline because Madison and Madeline/Madlyn have been hugely popular and everyone is now a "maddie"

Re: Girl name help

Hi!

I had a 36 week growth sonogram today and my Chat Icon was measuring 4 days ahead. His estimated weight is 6lbs 11oz which places him in the 79th percentile. Hope that means I might go a little early! My DD was 16 days early and weighed 7lbs 8oz at birth... I'm hoping for a VBAC. But if I don't go into labor on my own, my Dr. Scheduled a C-Section on 8/23, a few days before my due date.
