Amino Questions...A bit long
i turned 36 a few months back and am pregnant with our 2nd child.
I just got the results of the Maternity T21 test and my ultra screen test. Numbers came back normal for Downs and Trisomy 15 (?).
They told me my numbers after the blood work for downs syndrome are now 1 out 2300 and for Trisomy 1 out of 7300.
I just had blood done yesterday for the spina bifida test. Once those results come back my numbers for the above will change again (Dr. said they will go up).
My question is do I still go and have the amino done after these numbers? Would you think these numbers were good enough for you to go through this pregnancy not knowing if anything was wrong?
My Dr really had no straight answer on what I should do. Before I found out the results I was ok with just moving forward without the amino if the results for the Maternity T21 came back normal. Now that they did I feel off about this decision.
How many of you just relied on the results of Maternity t21?
My chances of miscarrying are 1 out 300 if I do the test...this number scares me more than the others...

Amino Questions...A bit long
I had an amnio done. I was 38 when I gave birth. I never had the NT or any other testing done. My Dr gave me the option of all or none of the tests. he said go home and discuss it with your DH and let me know.
We decided that we needed to know. And having the 1 in whatever tests tell us zero. For us the Amnio was the right choice. I did not even think twice about it once we made the decision.
The risk of miscarry depends on a lot. Your Dr, you, your pregnancy. I don't think you can just give a blanket statistic on it.
If you have one you need to go to a Dr that does them all the time. Theya re sono guided so there is no longer the unknown of where the needle goes. They go into a area where there is a large pocket of fluid away from the baby.
The nerves before hand were worse than the actual test. I had mine done on a Thrusday and spent the day in bed jsut relaxing. On Fri I stayed home but moved around the house but did not lift.
I had no issues after and would do it again in a heartbeat. I had a calm for the rest of the pregnancy that would not have been there with one of the other tests.
No one can tell you to do it or not...its a very personal decision to be made between you and your DH. But if you have any questions about the proceedure or anything let me know.

Re: Amino Questions...A bit long
I gave birth on my 37th birthday. After the results of my Materniti 21 blood test came back normal I decided, and my doctor agreed, no further testing was necessary. The only way I would have had an amnio was if there was some indication something was wrong.
What's so great about the Materniti 21 test is that it gives results with similar accuracy of an amnio or CVS but without the risks that come with those invasive tests.

I took the MaterniT21 test and trusted the results. It's supposed to be very accurate without the risk of an invasive test. Your other test results sound really low to me too and wouldn't worry me at all. It's totally your decision whether to have any of these tests and I think that's why the doctor is not telling you what to do. To help you decide, I would think about what the test could tell you and if it's going to change anything. Are your reasons for testing worth the risk? Only you can answer these things. IMO, you can relax about downs, and trisomy 18 and 13 (the three things MT21 tests for).
