What is the appropriate amount $ for a wedding gift these days
I'm attending as a single mother with 2 toddlers
Silly question but I have not been to a wedding since living abroad in about 8 years

Someone must think it's been quiet here this weekend.
Seriously though, whatever you can afford is fine.
For an average, run of the mill "Long Island" wedding, we give $100-$125 per person.
Will give more depending on our relationship with the couple as well as our financial stability at the time.
I hail from the Hudson Valley so the going rate is SIGNIFICANTLY less and people often give gifts from the registry and not cash.

Obviously what you cn afford, but for you and 2 toddlers I'd say $200-$250. Also depends how close you are to the couple.

I would give $150-200 for you and the kids $250 is a bit much IMO

Of course the obligatory " give what you can afford"! But since that isn't very helpful, as a single person going o a wedding I usually give $200, more if it's someone very close to me.

Does the fact that it is out of state matter? I didn't think so but am also paying for hotel. I was thinking at least 200 originally

Absolutely you are more then thoughtful and generous attending a wedding out of state with 2 toddlers and gifting $200. I think that is a perfect amount.

Outside the tri-state area I would give $200, within NY, NJ, CT I would give $250. HTH

I always give at least $150. and that's just for dh and me. we are poor but we don't feel we can do the give what we can afford bit because we know how people are and they will look down at us for it. with 2 kids as well, i would give at least $150.

for DH and I we give $250 plus depending on the relationship. If you are going alone with toddlers I would give in the range of $150 - $200.

NY weddings we give 250-300. Out of state- 200 is fine.
