I hate shots
Dd got her first oral vaccine and a shot today. The shot on her leg looks like a bruise. She has been super fussy all day. I gave her a bath and Dh was drying her off and rubbed the spot. She lost it, she was screaming bloody murder. It was the first pain cry we've ever heard. She passed out after I bf her but I keep checking her since she never goes down before 1030 and has been sound asleep since 815.
I feel horrible.

How old is she?
I hate them too. The last 1 my dd got her temp was raised and she was restless, fussy and clingy for 2 days.

I space em out. She only gets 1 a month. Shes 1 years old. I cant imagine if she got 2 in 1 day.

I mistakenly thought since one was a shot and one was oral that she'd be ok. From now on only doing 1.

Yea shes never gotten an oral one before.
Its crazy how it changes their whole demeaner. Other times no reaction or shes overly tired or totally restless. Fights her naps and wakes every few hours at night.

Re: I hate shots
That first hurts, stings and makes them sore. It's so sad but the oral one shouldn't do much to her. It's sad I know. I gave dd Tylenol b/c all she did was cry and sleep after. The next day she was fine.
That being said most of the next shots don't hurt. Maybe right when they feel the pinch at first but not after. Dd1 hasn't cried at shots in a long time she's 3 now but even as an infant.

Is it for Rotavirus? Both of my boys had the worst side effects from that shot - they were miserable about a week after - but, it's better than actually contracting Rotavirus - I have had friends who had it and ended up in the hospital.
Try to think of it this way - the temporary discomfort outweigh the risk of contracting the illness.

Re: I hate shots
Every baby is different! DS had all his shots and the oral at the same time during his 2 month and he was totally find afterwards. Got them all at once for his 4 month visit, too, but this time he had a slight fever for 2 or 3 days. But he acted totally normal, slept and ate fine. You never know. My thought was that if he did have a reaction, I'd rather him have it all at once and be done with it, rather than spacing out his vaccines and taking the chance that he could feel lousy after each time.

Re: I hate shots
DD did terrible with the 2, 4, and 6 month shots. I think it was the DTap that was painful for her. It has the tetanus in it, which I know is painful when I get it. She was worse with the 2 month shots though. She was actually moaning and whining in her sleep. It was terrible.

Re: I hate shots
Wth dd's first shots, she cried out in excruciating pain about 4 hours afterwards... It was horrifying. Gave Tylenol and she was able to settle down within a little while... Then next few shots after that, I've given her Tylenol right away... I couldn't go through that horror again...
