Suggest your double stroller

DS will be 2 when the new baby is born. I went to BBB and became overwhelmed with the double strollers. I feel like they are all so HUGE!

I know i do not want a side by side stroller. Can you please recommend your double stroller?

Re: Suggest your double stroller

I recently just bought this Joovy stroller. My DS is 3.5 & DD is 10 months. I love it! It is very lightweight and my DS loves that he can sit or stand. I also have the maclaren twin triumph but the Joovy is so much lighter.

ETA: It also comes with the bar to snap in the infant car seat. I never used it since DD is out of her infant seat.

I also said I didn't want a side by side, but when DD2 arrived I ran out and got one! DD1 and DD2 are 23 months apart. The side by sides are big and bulky, but I felt the most practical in the end. We got the Bumbleride Indie Twin. Both seats fully recline, the infant car seat snaps in, the foot rests adjust, it has a great canopy and a decent size basket. It is so easy to open and close. It pushes great and I don't feel the weight difference at all - even pushes well with only one kid in it. And it fits through doors no problem. The only drawback is the weight, but IMO it is worth lugging it around for the features. I wanted both kids to be comfortable and not force DD1 into a seat that didn't recline.

I have two for two different reasons. I have the city select for places like the mall, stores, etc. It's thinner then the side by sides, it fits through the aisles of the stores better and in doorways, etc. I like that it is a single and a double. When ds 2 was born we had the infant adaptor on it and the seat in the back. Now we have the two seats in the trunk at all times and when ds 1 (almost 3) is cranky, about to fall asleep or we are in a store where he would ruin everything, I put the two seats on. Most of the time he walks or sits in the cart but I like that I have options. I don't always have to have a double like the side by sides. If I need it, it's a double, if not it is a single. It also has a huge basket. It really stinks for walking around the neighborhood though. It's fine when it only has one seat but when it's the double it's hard to turn. We ended up getting the Bob double stroller for neighborhood walks, running, going to fairs, parks, etc. It's so much easier to walk with and so lightweight but it is a beast so I wouldn't take it to the stores and I've only had it in my Jeep once because I walked at a park a few towns away. It was hard getting it in and out of my Jeep because it is so beastly lol. I mainly use it around the neighborhood.

What are you mainly going to use it for?

DS 1 was 27 months when DS 2 arrived. I thought about it and realized that since I was a FTWM, the only time I would need the double would be for long walks or places like the zoo and whatnot where there is a lot of walking involved.

I opted for the City Mini (I liked the Britax ones too but, they weren't compatible with my infant seat). It isn't too heavy, folds flat and pushes great. We have a Pilot so it has no issue fitting in the trunk but, my friend has a Hyundai Elantra and can fit hers in there as well.

I have the single BOB and feel it's the best for maneuvering bumpy sidewalks, grass at parks, sand at beach, etc. I love that you can push it with one hand and hold coffee or anything in your other hand. My first two kids were 4 years apart so #1 was done with strollers and we used same single BOB for #2. Now I'm expecting #3 and she is expected only 18 months after #2 so I need a double. I've been pushing around friends' doubles when we're out and about and feel the BOB double is the best but also large. I like that the City Mini is smaller and closes with one hand but it doesn't maneuver as well. A store I was in told me that the City Mini is coming out with a double GT version with better wheels in July - I'm eager to check that out!

We have thedouble City Mini GT. It's a side by side and I haven't had a problem going through doorways... yet. We've had it for about 2 months and has been everywhere with it including Manhattan. There is the regular City Mini double. It's slightly smaller than the GT model and only 28lbs and might be a better option for you since it's more compact.

I love my bumble ride indie twin!!! It is a side by side. I have not met a door way that it could not go through. It maneuvers beautifully!!!

I have kids 1.5 year apart.

I have both strollers. My SIL gave us her kid behind the other stroller. We barely used it.

If either put the baby in an ergo and do a single stroller or do a side by side double (my baby wanted to be looking out from 3 months). I didn't do solo trips with the kids until the youngest was 3 or 4 months old.

I never had trouble with my Joovy X2. It's a cheap, big, wide stroller. The width is that if a wheelchair... So the fit it tight but it Does fit through all doors.

Re: Suggest your double stroller

Dd & ds are 23 months apart and we gt the city select. Now dd is 3 and rarely sits in the stroller so the option to convert it back to the single for dd is great! We also have a sit and stand it is lighter and a little less bulky but i find the seats to be small and the storage basket is hard to access.
