Dessert table question.

Do you set it up ahead of time? If so how do you keep kiddos from sampling ahead of time? Well not just kids... We had cookies out on the cake table and people were sneaking them before dessert was served so there weren't enough to go around. There were no kids there. Chat Icon Or would you just set up plates and put food on before you open the table?

Re: Dessert table question.

I had the problem with people "sampling" before dessert too, also all adults there, and I became extremely agitated about it. I chose not to do anything that day b/c it was SIL's family. When I helped do the dessert table for my niece's christening (same family), my SIL chose to cover the table with a sheet before dessert was served.

Re: Dessert table question.

I have mostly seen it set up the whole party (yes, with some sampling going on). For my DS first bday I set up all the platters in an office of the hall, the staff set it all up after the meal and I helped.

Re: Dessert table question.

Forget a dessert table - I had cupcakes in my ktchen (not out yet) ad adults were just helping themselves!

Re: Dessert table question.

I had a sign made that had a cute saying about not "sampling" I don't remember what it says exactly but I worked for the most part.
