I agree with the others who said 9 minutes is way to long.
When they do the photo montage at weddings.. The bride and groom both growing up, then dating, then engaged it isn't even 9 minutes long. I couldn't sit still watching 9 minutes of 1 year of someone's life.. Maybe 2-3 min ( set to one short song) would be more appropriate to share at a party.

We had a video slideshow at her first year set to a three minute song. I think 9 mins is too long but the I can tell u people loved the slideshow so I thi k it's a great idea overall

Yep I agree then it wouldn't be obnoxious at all
I had Alice in Wonderland on a loop for AJ's last party so people knew the theme.

Also are there going to be a lot of kids at the party, im assuming yes... if so, you imagine kids sitting through or trying to keep them calm if everyone came in to see it as to not seem rude.
I like the loop idea. I don't think its obnoxious but may be boring to some. We played our montage at our wedding during dinner as to not stop the party and bore our guests since they would've been eating anyway.

We did a slideshow, but like others have suggested, we had it on a constant loop throughout the party.

We did this for DD's 1st. It was a photo/video montage set to music (2 songs total, so about 6-7 minutes). Our party was at a hall, so everyone was in the room. We put it on and I think it was a big hit! We had many people crying (even the men!) and A LOT of compliments.
Honestly, if it is at your house and people don't want to see they will continue on, otherwise they will come in to see, their choice. Maybe this is rude of me but they are there to celebrate YOUR child's birthday, I think it only respectful to give up a few minutes out of a party which I am sure is a few hours to share in the memoires of your child's first year.
