Another EI question, for those who started PT around a year

Do you mind sharing what your child was/wasn't able to do if they qualified for PT around 12 months?

Our ped suggested waiting until DD's next appt at 15 months to see how she progresses. She sits, stands, cruises very well and recently started scooting on her butt. However, she cannot get up to sitting position, pull up to standing, or hold herself up on her knees at all. She's really stuck in whatever position I put her in. Just not sure if she'll qualify or if she really needs it but I also don't know if I want to wait so long if she does.

I would just call for the evaluation. Don't wait. Its not just what they can/can't do, its also the quality of movement.

I usually say to call right away however you can only have an re-evaluation every 6 months. I would wait until 15 months because she will have a better chance of qualifying. If she doesn't qualify now you have to wait until 18 months which will automatically qualify her if she isn't doing what you listed. I would at least give it another month or so. My daughter qualified at 8 months she wasn't rolling crawling creeping or rocking. She just sat! She still doesn't crawl but we are working on standing.

my daughters qualified at6 months/4 adjusted. Over a year later they still have it and it is wonderful. It is not about what they can do if and when. The evaluator will do what they need to, your LO will have fun with the evaluation.

My son qualified at 17 months. Therapy started at almost 18 months. At 12 months, he was not standing or cruising. He did not crawl without his stomach on the ground until 15 months and did not walk until 18 months. In hindsight, i should have called sooner. He is.22 months and is still getting PT and therapist said he will qualify again when we meet for his meeting in june. He has low muscle tone and favors one side of his.body more than the other.

Thanks ladies. I think I'm going to give her a few more weeks to see how she does and maybe call after that. Most people that see her look at me like I'm nuts when I mention PT bc she's all over. They don't realize that if I didn't put her in the sitting or standing position she'd spend the whole day lying on her back.
