I hear your labor can be like your mom's...

My mom's longest labor was 4 hours and she gave birth 3 times. I'm REALLY hoping that I go like her. She said her mother gave labor the same way.

Did any of you find it true that you labored like your mother?

Nope. Completely opposite. I think it's more coincidence than science if you labor like your mother.

My mom had very long labors...with no drugs....for 7 children!!! I thought I would be in labor for days but I actually had a pretty quick delivery!

No idea because I was breech so my mom had to have a Csection and didn't go through full labor.
I had DD vaginally.

My sis and I were both pg at the same time and they we completely different from each other and very different from both my moms deliveries

Opposite even down to the weather. My mom was in labor 40 hours and wound up with a C section in a blizzard. I was in labor 28 hours, had DS vaginally and he was born on the last 90 degree day of the year!

No I believe my labor was much longer than my moms actually!

My mother and I had very different labors...same true for my friends...I had heard this too but, I think it's an old wives tale!

i had a c-section and my mom had 3 naturally. BUT i have heard that whether you are late/on time/early compared to your due date can be similar to your mothers. my nana (moms mom) and my mom were 2 weeks late with their kids. i was 2 weeks late with DD. UGH!!!

My mom had a short labor with no meds. Mine was over 50 hours (and of course with meds ;)

I heard its supposed to be like your sisters labor, not moms. My sister had an easy delivery. Who knows

not at all!
with me, it took her a few hours, not sure if she had drugs.
with my brother it was 2 hours form when we left her to when he was born with no drugs!

me, i labored for 19 hours with pitocin and epidural after 9 hours and never got past 2 cm so needed a c-section.

mt mom is small but apparently has good hips.
i'm overweight and my hips look huge but apparently my hip bones were too small for DS's shoulders and they doubted he would have made it out anyway.

I think I'm in the minority here. My moms two labors were 3.5-4 hrs each, start to finish, no drugs. I had DD even quicker, 2hr 45min, no drugs. I think we just got lucky.

Not at all true for me. My mom was 2 weeks late. I had both of my kids early. My mom had many days of false labor and her labors lasted for over 24 hours and apparently excruciating all three times. She did not use drugs.

I had no false labor. I did not use drugs until on the c/s table. Mine was less than 5 hours and not painful until transition (so the last 20 minutes), and then I needed a c/s because my son was a frank footling breech. I delivered a foot and part of the tush and then the doctor had to take him out via c/s. DD was transverse so she was a planned c/s.

My mom had a c-section (3 actually) and I did as well! No labor for either of us.

My mom and I had very similar experinces.

My mom was in labor for over 20 hours, had to have her water broken at the hospital and never dialated past 7 cm and ended up with a c-section.

My water broke at home, did 22 hours of labor, but never dialated past 3cm and ended up with a c-section.

So it was true for us.

My mom and my sister both had c-sections. And so did I. So I guess mine was like theirs!

I can't count my first two births because I had pitocin whereas my mom didn't. But my third was almost just like my birth, my mom woke up to contractions and gave birth four hours later. And she was late with me and I was 11 days late with my third.

Nope, not at all.

Well, I had c-sections, and she had 2. Ironically enough, I was born vaginally. My sister and brother were c/s.

I had a preemie and there is no history in my family of any premature births. My youngest was born about 10 days before my scheduled date,,but was also a c/s.

My sister has 3 kids, all born vaginally

My sisters and I all had labors like our Mom. Labor that progressed but babies that could not fit through the canal. My Mom had 3 sections and my sisters and I have all had sections. Funny thing is my MIL had same issue and ended up with sections as well.

In my case it was like my moms but only for DD. my delivery for DS was uncomplicated and quick. With DD i had alot of complications after and lost alot of blood and pretty much almost died. My mom had the same experience giving birth to me!

Well, mine had some similar qualities, such as being hell on earth, painful and ending in emergency c-section. Luckily, my mom hid the truth from me all those years. I just always saw her huge section scar.
