Educational summer camps?

A friend is wondering if there are any summer camps that are more educational to help prepare for kindergarten?

Educational summer camps?

I dont know where she is, but The Learning Experience in Medford has a more 'educational' curriculum. (sign up is probably ending soon though)

I believe Hoftstra has a summer camp, but I don't know if it's for pre-K.

Just have to say this -- unless your child qualifies for early intervention a traditional day camp will prepare your child in the most important ways. The biggest challenge of kindergarten is learning to function in a group. To take turns, to sit still sometimes and to be a good friend. There is no rush to learn how to read before you get there.

This exactly. Unless your child has a delay - there is nothing academically they need to be "prepared" for. K starts really really basic. They expect that all children com in at different levels.

forgot i posted this. i will pass this along to her but i think she is concerned cause her Pre -k teacher mentioned something about her needing more practice in some areas and im thinking its more in in education then social skills.

I feel though i dont have school aged kids yet that they except so much more from kids nowadays.

Re: Educational summer camps?

Our preschool runs a summer skills camp for kids entering kindergarten. It's Kiddie Junction in Levittown, I am sure others do as well.
