Never flew with a 2.5 YO....have some ???s
DH and I just booked a trip with DD to see family out in Colorado. She will be 2.5 when we go.
-What do I need for ID for her? She has her own seat on the plane - we are using Southwest Airlines via Islip Airport
-Would you recommend bringing the car seat for the trip?
-Do I dare bring a stroller or do you recommend purchasing a cheap one out there to use on the trip? Not sure how this would even work with the airline, anyways.
Any other recommendations from the BTDT mommies who have done this?

You don't need ID for her, but we usually bring their birth certificate anyway.
We always bring our own car seat and stroller. You can check them right at the gate. It does not count upwards your luggage allotment.
Bring some cheap new toys from the dollar store, bring crayons and coloring books, lots of sacks, lollipops for take off and landing.

You don't need ID for her, but we usually bring their birth certificate anyway.
We always bring our own car seat and stroller. You can check them right at the gate. It does not count upwards your luggage allotment.
Bring some cheap new toys from the dollar store, bring crayons and coloring books, lots of sacks, lollipops for take off and landing.
This. Go to Target's dollar section and buy tons of cheapy toys and craft stuff. Don't give it to your child until you are on the plane and do one thing at a time. I flew twice with my daughter. The first time was at age 2 and the second at age 3. It will be great. Remember lots of snacks and entertainment!

ITA - except we usually check the carseat with our baggage.
We bring lots of snacks as well. If you have a tablet or a portable dvd player, it would be good to bring with some of her favorite shows to watch as well.

Same here. Carseat on the plane is unnecessary. Stroller gets left right by the entrance to the plane.
