Tell me about tubes in baby's ears...

dS has had a lot of ear infectionsn since he was born, he'll be 1 on Tuesday. He's been sick and has another one now so 2different dress aid he's got really small ear canals and a lot of wax in them so its hard to see the inner ear and he might be a good tube candidate in the future...

I'm nervous about this...

My son had it done right before he turned 9 months. There was absolutely no recovery, and he was back to himself as soon as we got home. His tubes fell out about 2-3 months ago (so they lasted about 13 months) and he just had another ear infection (not a bad one) 3 weeks ago. Hoping its just a fluke, and he doesnt have to get them put back in.

my son just had them done a little over a week ago. Easiest thing ever. Easy procedure. No pain. Easy recovery. Slept a lot and then was back to normal that afternoon. He had fluid in his ears that wasn't draning. Every since, he's walking a lot more and babbling more (he failed the hearing test on the left side prior to the tubes).

He never had many ear infections, but we still had to do the tubes so no damage was done to his ears. Given how easy it was and if he was getting constant ear infections... i'd schedule it asap if i were you. I definitely wouldn't like my son to be on antibiotics month after month.

My son got tubes right before his first bday. He had chronic ear infections for about 6 months. The procedure was done incredibly quick and the recovery was fine. He has had 3 infections since he got the tubes (a year ago). I can't imagine how many infections he would have had if he hadn't gotten the tubes.
