Are contractors just too busy?
We are looking to redo our bathroom and I feel like contractors just aren't interested in our project, we've had several come over for quotes and they promise to send in few days/week etc and we just don't hear back from them. Is this just the way things work? Or are they all just too busy with Sandy jobs and don't need the work?

Oh my gosh we've had AWFUL luck with contractors, and this has been happening since before Sandy. They either don't show up or don't give quotes like you said. I don't get it!

My uncle and DH's friend are contractors. They are super busy since the storm, working 7 days a week. I know our friend can't start jobs until the end if May right now. But that doesn't excuse the contractors coming to meet with you. That's just unprofessional.

Its very frustrating! We are ready to move on this, we know what we want, we're planning to pay cash and its like we're chasing them to give them our business. I dont get it!

My brother is a GC and he has been so swamped with hurricane/flood rebuilding. He told me he had to turn down a ton of jobs. I think a lot of contractors are also still busy with rebuilding.

We experienced this way before Sandy but I'm sure they are even busier now. I keep thinking how amazing the contractor business is for them that I keep trying to throw cash at them and they won't bite lol

Yes. DH has had to turn down so many. He needs to get on the ball to do a bathroom for someone because their daughter is getting married in a few months.
I would stay on top of them. (We are planning to have work done too and the architect was here a few weeks ago and has not followed up; our insurance company is still really behind in getting us our flood insurance stuff together).

My fil is a carpenter & I want to get my bathroom done & he is suppose to do it with his guys & I am on a waiting list for 4 months now.

we have found that they are so busy you really have to stay on top of them. We had to call contractors multiple times for quotes and then for them to start. Once they have started it has been fine. It's the initial quote process that took forever.
