Need advice for 3yo pug; accidents in the house

Hi all, new on this board.

We adopted a 3yo pug 6 mos ago. We have a 4yo shipoo also. Both are males, both are neutered, and they get along great.

This is my issue...
My pug poops in the house almost every day. He also "marks" things we bring in the house, leave on the floor, or hang on the chair. Example...we bought a door and leaned it up against the wall in the living room and he peed on it (not in front of us), my DH hangs his jacket on the kitchen chair, pees on that. If we have cardboard we leave next to garbage can for recycling...pees on that.

We bring him out twice in the morning, once when we wake up and again after we feed them. He HATES walking on the grass when it is cold, or wet, or snow; sometimes i have to pick him up and place him in the middle of the yard so he will sniff around. There have been times where a few mins after we come inside he will leave us a present in the foyer. We do the whole treat/praise thing outside when he poops, if he goes in the house we bring it outside and show him, we tried the kennel thing but he peed/pooped in there too, we've showed it to him and yelled, can't leave a wee wee pad down because they tear it up, we have tried bringing them out together and separately. When we are home on the weekend he goes all day without an accident. They are home alone for 8 hrs while we are at work. It's not a separation anxiety thing because sometimes he does it overnight. He's not being spiteful because they are 2 very spoiled and loved puppies. It's almost as if he is just too lazy to go sniffing around for a good spot while he is outside.

Any suggestions? We are going out of our minds

Could you maybe try wee wee pads in a spot. At least that way maybe he will go in one spot and not all over your house. Was he a rescue? Pugs are very smart dogs and can be trained. I would look into maybe a class or a trainer to come help with these issues. I also have a pug 8 year old male housetrained since he was 6 months old.

I have always found male pugs to be very difficult to housebreak. I only know of one male pug who is truly housebroken.

Really the only thing you can do is be diligent. He has to be on a leash where ever you are. He has to be supervised. You have to catch him in the act, stop him, and bring him outside.. I would treat him like a 10 week old puppy and take him outside to make every 2-3 hours for a week or two and see if that does anything. You can also try a different high quality food for him. It might be the food that he is on is making him drink extra and eliminate too much volume. He might do better on smaller portions of canned food twice a day.

It's really two separate problems, marking... which could be because there are two males in the house and not holding it, because he doesn't like to go outside. You can also try putting him in a sweater. I'd just leave it on him so it takes the damp and chill off being outside. 8 hours might be too ask him to hold it. Some dogs can do 8 or more hours but most dogs are more in the 5-6 hour range.

Pugs are smart but stubborn as hell. I would def speak to a trainer. The peeing sounds like a dominance thing to me. My dog was crated as a puppy u til he learned not to go in The house when we werent home and then he would slowly get free alone time. The number 2 how many times is he going a day? Any dog I have ever had went twice. Any more than that it may be the food is not agreeing with him
