do you pay weekly? monthly?

dumb questions: if the daycare is closed on a holiday, you don't pay right?

so lets say you normally pay 350 a week, if they are closed one day the next week you only 280?

if your child is sick, you still pay right? do they give you any leeway with that or no?


i just want to be prepared when i start meeting with daycares centers and in home daycares.

We pay by the month...it's the same price every month regardless of number of days, etc...our daycare is 10 months and then has a summer program..you don't have to register for summer to have a place for the fall, the times of year are independent of eachother.

I'm sure every daycare is different. For ours, we pay monthly- payment is due the first of each month (with a grace period until the 10th). If the daycare is closed, we don't pay. If they are open, and we don't send our child in for whatever reason, we still pay. HTH!

I have the option to pay weekly or monthly but the price is the same regardless of holidays, sick days, etc. so every single week costs the same, no matter what. Looked at a lot of daycares and that was the standard in all of them.

My daycare has a choice to pay weekly or monthly.

You pay the same every week regardless if they are open or not or there sick.
You get two vacation weeks a year and it has to be a consecutive week and its only half off each week.

I pay monthly in advance by choice. I could pay weekly if I wanted to. I am a teacher and if I have off I do not pay for that day.However, if she misses the whole week I pay $25 to "hold" her spot. If she stays home bc she is sick I would lose that money. From our research, each place can be very different. These are questions you need to ask. It helps to keep a notebook or something to jot everything down so you can compare each place.

ETA: DD goes to an in home daycare. I have found them to be much more flexible than a center.

We use a small day care and my kids are considered part time. We only pay for the hours we use and generally just pay at the end of the week.

I pay monthly. And if school is closed for a holiday or inclement weather or DD doesn't go, I still pay.

And regardless if she goes or not or they are closed the price is the price.
It's X amount per week whether that week is 4 days or 5 or whatever
We do part time though- so we pay the 3 day a week rate

Payment is due weekly. We are part time daycare and I pay for two days a week. I have rotating shift so if it works out I only need it one day a week I still pay for two which stinks but is understandable.

We pay weekly. DD's daycare has a few paid holidays that we pay no matter what. When I am off and not sending her, I do not pay if they know in advance (e.g., Christmas week). If she is out sick, I still pay.

ETA: DD goes part-time to a Family Group day care (i.e., in-home style, but it isn't actually one of the providers' homes). They had more flexibility than the daycare centers, which works well for us.

our daycare is closed all standard holidays and there are a few we do pay for (labor day, MLK etc).

our daycare does have a vacation policy which I think it great. They get 2 weeks off in the summer and we pay half BUT we also get to take 2 weeks vacation or sick days and only pay half. Works out well!

if for unseen reasons our daycare closes (death etc) we don't pay. but for snow or loss of power closure, we do pay (though with sandy we did get a 25% discount since everyone was hit so hard and they were closed for 6 business days)

My place you pay for holidays. However if they close due to weather or illness than we don't pay but you don't send DC b/c of illnes you do pay. DS goes to an in home daycare. HTH

The day care we're going with has the option to pay weekly or monthly with a 5% discount if you pay monthly. As I understand it if we schedule a vacation in advance and give notice that DS won't be there we don't have to pay for that week but if he's sick and we just don't send him then we still have to pay.

At ours you can pay weekly or monthly. We do weekly. We pay whether there is a holiday or not during the week. There are no "vacation days" or sick days.

We pay weekly, payment is the same every week, whether or not they are open or if we do or do not send DC on a particular day. We do get one weeks "vacation" that we can use if we say go away, that we dont have to pay during that week.

Mine is either weekly or monthly. I prefer to pay weekly. If we pull the baby for vacation, or holiday then we pay half tuition, but we must give notice. Holidays, inclement weather, sick- we pay full. Kiinda sucks but it is what it is..

We pay the same price every month. It's a 10 month day care and the yearly tuition is divided over 10 months. So it's the same. They will work with you if for some reason you miss like 3 weeks in one month.

we may monthly, no cut for holidays. our gives 1 week vacation cut after 6 months
