newborn bfing q
Sorry if this has been asked before My ped has me feeding them every three hours. When do you think he will let me move up to 4 hours? They are gaining well so far. Tia

Re: newborn bfing q
I was always told that once the baby is back to it's birth weight I could feed on demand. That said for the first 6-8 weeks I never went longer than 4 hours but that was for supply issues not baby weight gain. Hang in there. It gets easier

every doctor is different.
mine told me every 2 to 3 hours until she was 3 months old. At three months old he said i could stretch it to 4. and my dd is BIG!
ive always fed on demand, but even now at 4 months old, she usually wants to be fed every 2 to 3 hours.

feed on demand. the feedings might not space out more, but the babies will become more efficent and eat faster.

Once my girls gained 6oz in one weekend, the ped told me to do whatever worked for me. I told him I had been feeding every 4hrs for a bit longer. You're not going to kill them, so don't worry about the clock so much. Plus, the ped. is not there watching you. See what works for you and them!

we did this for about 6 months. I still do not know how we functioned. Just think that it can only get easier from here.

I've always fed her on demand. 2-3hours. Growth spurts can be every hour and they might nurse for 30mins. Tiny tot is 20weeks today. She gets three 5oz bottles of bm at daycare. They space it 4-5hours. I nurse her when she gets home and one more time before bed and she STTN. Weekends is on demand.

DD has just now stretched to 4 hours at 7 months. The good news is she nursed much faster early on, so 15 minutes of nursing every 3 hours wasn't so bad.

Re: newborn bfing q
DD is 7 months old and I feed on demand which is still every 3 hours. I would try to stretch it out but she is a light eater and still only 10th percentile for weight.
ETA she sleeps 12 hours at night with no feedings

Re: newborn bfing q
I was not lucky . DS breastfed every 1.5-2 hrs until 2 months or so. From 2-6 months he went 3 hrs. Finally at around 6 months, he went 4 hrs during the day.
He has always been in 90th percentile for weight.
