Tantrums, time out, tantrums, time out....
Is all I seem to do these days. Dd is 30 months and has been an absolute horror these past few weeks. Everything is a fight. From getting dressed, to going to bed. She goes in time out and then she's ready to do whatever it is. I believe she has all her teeth, she's not sick, she's just a nightmare. We were doing really well for a long time. She was listening, being fun/funny, now I can't take her out. It takes me so long to get her dressed. I hate starting the morning in time outs but that's the only way to get her do things.
Don't know what I'm looking for. Support, advice, knowing I'm not alone in this. I just want to run away until my normal dd comes back gaha. And I can't drink b/c I'm pregnant.

You are NOT alone. What you described is our life to a T. She can go from 0 to 60 in 5 seconds. Be in a great mood, then the next minute one TINY thing will set her off or be out of place and WHAM- the devil child emerges. We lose track of time outs as well. Getting dressed, eating a meal, everything is a battle. Right down to the kind of socks she wants to wear. I really think it's the age... and the girl thing!

Re: Tantrums, time out, tantrums, time out....
i posted the same thing about 6 months ago or so. Things have finally started to get better. Dont get me wrong, there is still tantrums etc but i do see a difference. I found that age 3 was/is worse than age 2. EVrything was big production, esp the getting dressed part. My dd refused to wear anything other than dresses or skirts. It was really rough getting her to wear pants or leggings. it was very stressful on the family b/c it made me late for work and difficult to get out of the house.
I have found that if i gave her a choice between 2 outfits, the dramatics were greatly reduced. I also think she is maturing. give it some time.6 months makes a great difference. i was at my wits end and i too vented here looking for answers. turns out, everyone went through the same thing.
i also found that i was not strict enough with any sort of routine. some days we get up and go downstairs to eat, then get dressed or vice versa. Not anymore. now, we wake up, get dressed, eat breakfast, brush teeth, and everyone sits by the stairs to put on socks and shoes. Routine, routine routine. Do the same sequence of events every day. Also, try doing the reward chart thing. You can find a simple one online and print it. Just use stickers and simple tasks. i started a reward chart, but never really followed through with it b/c the changes i made seemed to be helping. things have gotten better and it will for you too!! good luck! And Hugs!!
