Help with feeding a four month old.

Now that dd can eat rice cereal, fruits and veggies, how do you incorporate it all???

How many times a day do you give the rice cereal? Fruit? Veggies?
Can you please share your feeding schedule, i feel a little lost with this. TIA!

Help with feeding a four month old.

Every Dr gives different directions so I would ask your Dr.

My only wanted 2 meals a day until 9 months.

Help with feeding a four month old.

I started with oatmeal and started with once a day until DS got the hang of it (which was by day 3 - he was more ready)...

He got oatmeal for breakfast and dinner with a fruit for his first month eating. At 5 months, I started introducing veggies and added a lunch (my ped said go for it).

I follow his cues - it took DS 1 longer to adapt to eating so I went slower in introducing the second meal and didn't add in lunch until he was a bit older.

Re: Help with feeding a four month old.

DD just turned 4 months.

I'm starting 3 tsp oatmeal 2x/day.

So this is what our schedule will try to be:

8am - 3 tsp oatmeal mixed with formula
followed by 6 oz bottle (as much as she can drink)

12:30p - 6 oz bottle

4:30p - 6 oz bottle (as much as she can drink)

6:30p - 3 tsp oatmeal mixed w/formula and an oz or 2 of formula to rinse her mouth

8:30p - 6 oz bottle (again as much as she wants)

Our schedule was:
8:30a - 6 oz bottle
12:30p - 6 oz bottle
4:30p - 6 oz bottle
8:30p - 6 oz bottle

Occasionally she would wake around 3-4am and drink around 4 oz. Past three nights she's slept through the night.

After a few weeks I will introduce veggies around lunch time.

Re: Help with feeding a four month old.

I would definitely check in with your dr but I started with feeding once a day in between his lunchtime bottles... So if he was due to feed at 12 and 4, I would give him solids at 2.

Re: Help with feeding a four month old.

thanks..i think i'll call my dr..I know she did tell me but the day i was there for my app't, my dd and ds were sick and I was a little overwhelmed and i don't remember exactly what she said..i do remember her saying to do a feeding at evening to help her stay full and sleep through the night.

I'm so bad with schedules....I don't really have dd on a set schedule because she wakes up different times each day..but basically i feed her 5 ounces every 3 hours.

Help with feeding a four month old.

We started with sweet potato and just gave him a few spoonfuls once a day for a week to get used to it. Then we added a second meal of oatmeal for a week. Now I give him two meals a day, breakfast is a fruit and oatmeal (mixed) and lunch is a veggie and oatmeal (separate). I only introduce a new food once/week on the weekends and I switch off each week on fruits/veggies (he started a new veggie this week so next week will be a new fruit).

Just make sure you wait 3 or 4 days before you try a new food and only add one at a time to make sure there are no allergies. And I agree with the PP, I give his solids right smack in between his bottle feedings. Good luck!

Yeah I hear you.

My doc said to give 3 tsp 2x/day. So I'm doing it AM and PM. She said not to do it right before bed so DD will have time to digest before sleep. That's why I'm doing the PM at 6:30pm and not with her last bottle.
