my 2 year old plays me like a fiddle
am I the only one?
for instance - he whines at night when I put him to sleep (monsters, needs lights, needs water, needs another book) but NEVER does this with DH.
he will demand things a certain way with me (dress him in his play room while DH can dress him in his room on the changing table where we would prefer to dress him) same thing for diaper changes.
begs for certain foods with me but eats what DH gives him without complaint
maybe I am too soft    . I say no, I put him on time outs, there are boundries with me. Is it just because I am "mama"?

my house is the opposite. DS plays DH like a fiddle, but knows better than to try with me.
for instance, whenever we get home he starts whining "i'm sleepy" because that will get DH to carry him home. i've never heard it and never carry him.
he cries on command for dh because he knows it will work. with me he sometimes starts, looks at me, and stops because he knows it's pointless.
i don't think you're soft. there are just different kinds of parents. if you are like DH i bet your son also runs to you and only wants you when scared or hurt. as a momma, it hurts to know DS runs to DH first, but i understand why- he's the big mush who makes everything better, i'm the one setting the rules.

I am too soft.
I hate seeing her upset. It's SOOO bad though.
She knows it too
DH is the bad cop, I am the good cop.
I am trying to be stronger but she just melts my heart!

i don't feel like I am soft but maybe I am? guess i need to toughen up. its just hard when he crys or is scared/sad etc.

I think this is totally normal, I have read about this very thing and DD does it to me CONSTANTLY. Kids are usually most comfortable with the person they spend the most time with and will test the limits primarily with them. When DH is home alone with DD on occasional weekends that I work he tells me how good she is for him. When I'm home with her during the week, she frequently gives me a hard time. DH sees how she acts for me and shakes his head and says "She never does this for me!".
