help! anyone pass a large blood clot
after they gave birth? I just passed a good size clot and here is the TMI part --it looked like jelly--def. looked like left over something from giving birth---any info. would be appreciated!
im so upset right now
eta: it didn't look like a typical blood clot...looked more like tissue, etc

Yes! And that's exactly what it looked like-jelly. It happened when I was still in the hospital. It was alot and quite disturbing. They told me to let them know if it happened again. One incident wasn't too concerning to them(especially since it happened after a long period of laying down). Luckily it didn't happen again.

Yes, bigger than a golf ball. It scared the crap outta me. I called the ob and said to call if it happened again. It did not. Everything was fine. Terrible though- I know.

I passed clots larger than softballs after giving birth each time, and my PP periods were more of the same. Gross and horrible, but I'm just "clotty"!

Same here, except my PP periods were delayed due to BFing. My midwives all said not to worry just keep track of how I felt and rest a lot. Definitely scary!

. Same for me. Went to the dr and thought something was wrong. They said it was normal.

I did. In the hospital, on the bathroom floor. I pressed the nurse emergency button. She came running in and said oh its just a clot.
Oh its all? It looks like an organ.
But I had been waiting for a sonogram because they were afraid that the ER did not get all of the placenta out and I thought that it may have been a placenta. But nope, just a clot.

OMG! mine totally looked like an organ!
i was wondering if it was still part of my placenta as well...it doesn't look like my smaller blood clots...really looked like tissue, etc. -so gross! I'm hoping it doesn't happen again and I'm also hoping everything is really out of my uterus....pregnancy/delivery is hard enough..why do we have to deal with the stress of things like this too!

about 15 days after giving birth, my sister passed a clot about 10 inches in diameter - she also bled a ton (in the middle of a CVS bathroom no less).
She was OK, just clotted blood from after the baby was born that did not pass alone.
Call you doc just to be safe! They may want to look at your uterine lining.

Yes - at about 11:30 PM, at home, 4 days after giving birth. I called my OB's answering service and they called and woke him up and he was so annoyed. This thing was about the size of a tennis ball, and he was like, "you're fine, go to sleep." I'm still glad I called though; that thing did NOT look normal and I was freaking out.
