Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?

We were invited to a my brother's BBQ today. He lives very close to us and it's just going to be our immediate family as well as my sis-in-law's immediate family. Maybe around 15 people, all adults.

I have been stuck in the house for 2 weeks and would love to get out for an hour or so.

thoughts? I don't know what to do.

With DD #1 I probably would have but also would have been very nervous. With DD #2 however, I had her out and about at 1 week old. LOL. Poor second baby. Chat Icon

Yup. Took my 2wk old to a family party yesterday. It was about same as yours 15ppl and i didnt worry. Its not flu season and she slept in the rocker most of the time. Go for it and enjoy!!

I would. Sounds like all people that would be coming over to meet the baby anyway.

I'm not sure I would personally, but I'm the overly cautious type. I would not want my 2 week old passed around and might find it awkward telling people no if they asked to hold him/her. Do what makes you feel comfortable though!

Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?

Absolutely! As long as you make sure no one has the flu or anything! I had my first out at a family party at 2 weeks old. I wouldn't take a 2 week old to a crowded mall and pass him around, but a backyard BBQ with close family, definitely! Enjoy it!

If I was feeling up to it, then yes. If I was worried about anyone touching DC, I would wear baby. If I didn't mind if people held DC, I would bring a blanket and a pump of purel

Re: Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?

I would, but I'd probably keep the baby in my sling or their infant seat to keep them from passed around.

Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?

Yes, but I am extremely laid back and had DS at a friend's memorial day BBQ, with about 30 people, when he was 3 weeks old. Only the people I knew well were allowed to hold him, and he spent most of the time sleeping in his rock 'n play sleeper in her living room anyway.

Go and enjoy! The fresh air will do all of you some good.

I would probably keep her in the carrier though, if possible.

DS was at a huge family party at 8 days old, but people were totally respectful and kept the passing to a minimum - just us, grandma and great grandma.

Re: Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?

Yes. In fact, my dd was 1 week old when fam came to our house for a memorial day BBQ. Just take the proper precautions and your baby will be ok IMO.
