Recomment you baby gate!
I know I have a long way to go until I need to worry about a baby gate, but I want to register for a top of the stairs gate and everything I'm looking at has mixed reviews. I want something that is easy to close and is very sturdy for when he starts walking and is pushing on the gate! I would also like something that opens completely and not just a small section opens. TIA!

For the top of the stairs it MUST be hardware mounted for safety!! Pressure mounted gates are unsafe at the tops of stairs as they can be pushed on and fall out of place.
I don't have one to recommend though, sorry!

We have the regalo top of stairs extra tall gate. It connects banister to banister with zip ties and velcro and is extremely sturdy and is a walk-through. It's really perfect for our home and has worked great!
